Allison Kennedy interview

Saturday, March 13, 2021 – 3:00 p.m.

Allison Kennedy is Sharon Hathaway's best friend.

Detectives Beckwith and Magee talked to her at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department

Participants:

  • Detective P. Beckwith
  • Detective J. Magee
  • Allison Kennedy

Detective Magee: Before we start, would you please state your name and address for the record.

Allison Kennedy: Sure. My name is Allison Kennedy, and I live at 824 Frontage Road, Apartment 27.

Detective Magee: Thank you. We're here to talk to you about your friend Sharon Hathaway. When's the last time you spoke to her?

Allison Kennedy: We had lunch Tuesday. We get together every Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Magee: What about January 5th? That was a Tuesday. Did you have lunch that day?

Allison Kennedy: Yeah, we haven't missed a lunch date in quite a while.

Detective Beckwith: Do you remember that day?

Allison Kennedy: Yes, that was right after Daniel left. She was pretty upset about it.

Detective Beckwith: What did she say?

Allison Kennedy: We talked about how concerned Vincent was about him moving so far away from home.

Detective Magee: Did she tell you anything else?

Allison Kennedy: She told me about how Daniel and Vincent had been arguing about it before he left. She was upset that Daniel was being so stubborn.

Detective Magee: How was he being stubborn?

Allison Kennedy: Just that he refused to take their advice and stay in Oxford. She said it seemed like he wanted to prove that he could take care of himself.

Detective Beckwith: What was her demeanor like?

Allison Kennedy: She seemed a little stressed out about the whole situation, but after we talked about it, she seemed to accept that Daniel was an adult, and he needed to make his own decisions.

Detective Magee: Did she talk about Vincent?

Allison Kennedy: Yeah, she said he was also just concerned about Daniel. And that Vincent was worried because they hadn't heard from him yet.

Detective Magee: Did she seem surprised that they hadn't heard from him?

Allison Kennedy: I guess so, yeah.

Detective Beckwith: Okay, Ms. Kennedy. Can you also tell us what time you met for lunch on the 5th?

Allison Kennedy: Noon. We always meet at McEwen's, where the two of us used to work. We were there for about an hour.

Detective Beckwith: How did you pay?

Allison Kennedy: We always split the bill.

Detective Beckwith: Do you remember if you paid with a credit card, cash, what?

Allison Kennedy: I'm sure I paid with my card. Sharon usually does too.

Detective Beckwith: Did you see or speak to Sharon any other time that week?

Allison Kennedy: We texted each other the day before we met, just to confirm that our plans were still on, but that's it.

Detective Magee: How has her mood been generally since then?

Allison Kennedy: Fine. She's worried about Daniel, of course, but she's fine.

Detective Magee: No unusual stress or depression that you've noticed?

Allison Kennedy: No. Why would you think that?

Detective Magee: How's her relationship with Vince?

Allison Kennedy: Good. Why?

Detective Magee: Sometimes when a child leaves home, it can be difficult on the people left behind.

Allison Kennedy: Well, Sharon's fine, and she and Vince are doing great. You don't need to worry about them.

Detective Beckwith: Okay, Ms. Kennedy, thank you for your time.

Allison Kennedy: Sure. Can I ask what this is about?

Detective Beckwith: We're just trying to make sure that Daniel is okay. There are some people who think he might be missing. Sharon hasn't mentioned that to you?

Allison Kennedy: Oh dear, no. Sharon hasn't told me anything about that. I hope everything's okay. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

Detective Magee: Thank you, Ms. Kennedy.
