This is strange. Was she stuck in the shed for a while? If so, why? Also, whoever carried (dragged) her body out of the apartment obviously had a hard time because of all the things that were found in the shed and in the yard. The file in her desk drawer was titled "Wicked Web". Could that be something she was working on for the Online Crime that Stillwater was talking about?
I wonder if somewhere in all that broken stuff was what was used to hit her in the head.

I'm not getting where the shed fits in (except 'in the middle'...). Do you think it's from the house or to the house? There is a lot here; important post, I think....

There was a brown sandal, a silver hoop earring and a piece of blue cloth with stains on it. Those are matches for what was discovered in the yard. So how would those items get there if Wendy wasn't in there at some point?

I don't think she was drug anywhere (to the shed or otherwise) as there were no markings that would indicate dragging in the autopsy

I wonder if the house was ransacked to make it look like a drug crazed fight? If a wine bottle is used to hit someone on the head and smashes and causes lacerations is that blunt force trauma or sharp force trauma?

Seems like Wendy may have been surprised when she arrived home and struck before she got inside. But, where is all the blood evidence? Trace elements? When the real estate arrived there was light rain maybe it had been raining harder prior to that and washed some evidence away. But if Wendy was in the shed there should be blood somewhere.

There doesn't seem to be any keys found either? I wonder if the killer took them? Was Wendy placed in her own car after being murdered and the killer drove that to dump the body? Tyre, (sorry), tire tracks would eliminate that theory or prove it.

I wonder if they were Willie's blood stained clothes in the bag found? I wonder if Carmen smokes?

Yea I had this crazy idea that Carmen maybe trying to frame Willie by wearing his clothes, waiting for Wendy, banging her on the head, messing up the house, and dumping her body.

The house seems to be broken into so maybe two separate crimes. break and enter and murder. ( I think you might have mentioned this on one of your posts). The Flash Drive draw in the study is empty maybe there was nothing there or maybe someone took something. (separate from the murder).
I think there's a lot going on in this case.

I'm going to the Ask The Detective and ask about blood. If you guys need more answers, you might want to go and ask for information there.

Maybe Wendy's shoes, earrings, etc. were in the shed because the killer thought they needed to hide for a second. Maybe someone was out in their yard or driving by when he was dragging her to the car. I say 'he' because I can't see a female...

After I checked the AtD, I realized sleepy11 had already asked a question about blood evidence. I should've checked before. Take advantage and ask anything you want to find out about. You never know what we could learn to help us along.

I think that she probably found out some dark secrets and had it on the file. The house seems like a setup. why is their broken green glass broken all over the house. Was she pulled to the shed and the person got spooked by something to return...

Stillwater, and maybe her brother, are the most familiar with her computer prowess. Why would a jealous Carmen think to go for the computer? We need to know more about her work with Stillwater....

I'm thinking the same way you are about the file.. Maybe a Dinner date with Stillwater gone wrong or a surprise visit from the Brother that got out of hand..

Is the dark red stain in the kitchen dried blood???

The stain on the kitchen throw rug, blue cotton, seems to match the shred of cloth in the shed. This would reinforce that the attack happened in the house/kitchen and she was then taken to the shed. (Not that there was any real doubt as to the sequence...) If she was bludgeoned to death (fractures with lacerations) would we expect a lot more blood at the place of death?
There are shattered plates in the kitchen but the sink seems to hold complete settings and pots for a dinner for two. Why weren't these easiliy available pieces thrown? More evidence of staging? Empty flour bag, cereal box, almost empty sugar. Are these contents thrown around? Three large, empty soda bottles in the living room. The 'liquid' found smeared about? Like the dishes, these do not appear to be 'organic' to a spontaneous conflict.
Her car had a number of empty plastic bags, quite a few with"Thank You" written on them. These type of bags are pretty ubiquitous, it is the type of bag the clothing was found in. There were also Square Books bags. One, she frequented the bookstore that Carmen worked at, and two, I still don't understand why the little girl thought there might be books in the "Thank You" bag when Square Books has a distinctive bag of it's own.

Hi All, I'm new so hopefully commenting on the right things here. Also catching up on the other evidence so hopefully nothing I haven't read contradicts me

The fact that the left and right sandal was found in different locations suggests she has lost one whilst running or trying to get away from someone. As the right sandal was found in the yard by her bag suggests to me she ran from the yard to the shed loosing her shoe and bag in the process and lost her left sandal in the shed, possibly where the murder was committed. If the murder was committed in the shed the body could easily be loaded into the back of a car in the carpool to be taken and hidden elsewhere.

Noticeably missing is all electronic storage. Where is the laptop / pc / tablet / flash drive that you would expect to be found in an office? I've read the interview of Anil Virani when he states she contacted him needing advice; was this because she had in her possession some key evidence (kept on electronic storage) that someone would kill for?

Reading the inventory that there were knifes, forks etc for two people made me think the murder happened over dinner but that would make no sense as to why she was out in the yard with her bag. If she was out in the yard then made a run for it could she have been coming back into the house from somewhere? Could she have come into possession of something over dinner, phoned Anil, been out and then been attacked when she returned home (someone waiting for her).

Victim was at a restaurant-bar and music venue during the evening, last seen alive around midnight according to a member of band playing there. If she would have had dinner with someone, it would have to have been very late, so I don't think it happened over dinner, but can't be sure. The dinner plates and pans are a big mystery.

Welcome Dave,
If you have just begun, you have a lot to catch up on. I would suggest going to the Case Recap and go from there. That way you won't miss anything. Have fun and good luck.
