Paul Bragg alibi check

On the evening of Monday, November 9, 2020, Deputy Fred Willits and Deputy P.J. Watson conducted interviews in an effort to corroborate Paul Bragg's alibi.

In an interview with the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department dated Sunday, November 1, 2020, Jimmy Bragg said he was at home doing homework with his father on the night of October 29.

In an interview with the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department dated Thursday, November 5, 2020, Paul Bragg said he and his son, Jimmy, were home on the night of October 29, and Jimmy was doing homework. Mr. Bragg said they ordered delivery from Pizza Hut sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Co-workers

The deputies spoke to Paul Bragg's co-workers at the technology company Silonotech to find out if any of them interacted with Paul on the evening of Thursday, October 29, 2020.

The witness statements provided below are in summary and not verbatim and are representative of all interviews conducted.

Lucinda Harrison
Senior Software Engineer
Silonotech

Lucinda said she was in a group conversation on the messaging application Slack with Paul Bragg and Rajiv Ariauthurai on the evening of October 29 between 5:45 and 7:00 p.m. They were all working out some technical issues on a new piece of software that the company is developing.

Silonotech's IT department provided a transcript of the conversation, where Paul mentioned having to step away to help his son with his homework and also contained a message from Paul about having to leave because the pizza he ordered had arrived.

Rajiv Ariauthurai
Project Manager
Silonotech

Rajiv Ariauthurai was part of the Slack conversation with Paul Bragg and Lucinda Harrison from 5:45 until 6:30. He lives in the same neighborhood as the Braggs and remembers seeing Paul's car parked in the driveway when Ariauthurai came home around 6:50 that evening.

Pizza Hut employees

The deputies spoke to the restaurant staff about delivery customers served on Thursday, October 29, 2020, and reviewed purchase records for that night.

The witness statements provided below are in summary and not verbatim and are representative of all interviews conducted.

Jessica James
Shift Manager
Pizza Hut

Ms. James is one of the shift managers at Pizza Hut. She confirmed that on October 29, she worked from 5:30 p.m. until after 11:00 p.m. when the store closed.

She said business was so slow that night that she released one of the delivery drivers early. She said the driver who stayed, Jacob Oliver, was also on duty at the time of the interview and should be back at the store shortly.

Ms. James checked the store's purchase records and found a credit card purchase made by Paul Bragg at 7:39 p.m. on October 29, 2020. Ms. James didn't specifically recall taking the phone order but commented that the large pizza and hot wings ordered were enough to feed between four and eight people.

Ms. James double-checked the address on the order and confirmed that it was delivered to 310 Longest Road.

Jacob Oliver
Delivery Driver
Pizza Hut

After a brief wait, the delivery driver, Mr. Oliver, returned to the store. He confirmed that October 29 was a slow night, but since it was over a week ago, he couldn't remember anything specific about delivering the food.

When shown a photograph of Paul Bragg, Mr. Oliver said Mr. Bragg looked sort of familiar, but he couldn't positively identify Mr. Bragg as the person he delivered the order to that night.

Mr. Oliver was also shown a photograph of Jimmy Bragg but had no recollection of ever having seen him before.
