YOKNAPATAWPHA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

Investigating Officer(s): Det. P. Beckwith, Det. J. Magee
Incident No.: 001077-08C-2021
Case Description: Daniel Collier missing person investigation

YCSD investigators attempted to corroborate Kristina McCarthy's alibi by speaking to the people she said she interacted with in Seattle, WA, and checking flight records.

Family canvass

Deputy P.J. Watson interviewed members of Kristina McCarthy’s family by phone to corroborate Mrs. McCarthy’s alibi. Deputy Watson asked about specific personal knowledge of Mrs. McCarthy’s whereabouts between January 2, 2021, and January 6, 2021.

In a March 6, 2021, interview with the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department, Kristina McCarthy claimed that she was in Seattle, Washington, visiting family between December 23, 2020, and January 4, 2021.

The witness statements provided below are in summary and not verbatim and are representative of all interviews conducted.

Cameron James
Kristina McCarthy's brother

Mr. James said he and his wife picked up his sister, Kristina, and brother-in-law, Peter, from Sea-Tac airport on December 23, 2020, and dropped them off there on January 4, 2021. He said Kristina and Peter had stayed at his house for the duration and that Kristina and his wife, Hannah, are basically inseparable.

He said he, Hannah, Kristina, Peter, and the other three James siblings and their families celebrated Kristina and Peter’s visit by hanging out together like tourists. In addition to visiting art museums, he said they went to the usual attractions like the Space Needle, the Pike Place Market, the underground tour, and the Fremont Troll.

He said Kristina and Hannah spent January 3rd, which was Kristina’s last full day in Seattle, together pampering themselves and shopping.

Hannah James
Kristina McCarthy's sister-in-law

Mrs. James confirmed that she and her husband, Cameron, picked up Kristina and Peter from Sea-Tac airport on December 23, 2020, and dropped them off on January 4, 2021.

She said that over the course of Kristina and Peter’s visit, all five James siblings and their families spent time visiting numerous tourist locations. She said they also visited the Seattle Art Museum, the Frye Art Museum, the Asian Art Museum, and Chihuly Garden and Glass.

She said she and Kristina spent January 3rd together shopping and getting a mani/pedi and a facial.

Beth Ann James-Rees
Kristina McCarthy's sister

Mrs. James-Rees said she spent considerable time with Kristina and the James siblings and their spouses and families between December 23, 2020, and January 4, 2021.

After the Christmas celebration, she said the group made the rounds of Seattle’s best tourist attractions and Kristina’s four favorite art museums.

Mrs. James-Rees said she stopped by Cameron and Hannah’s house on the morning of January 4th to say goodbye to Kristina and Peter before they left for the airport.
