YCSD investigators traced the prepaid cell phone that sent the anonymous text messages to Veronica Smith using the telephone's unique ID number, which is recorded by the cell towers.
This ID number was traced to a Samsung Galaxy A03s using Tracfone Wireless service.
Walmart officials identified Tupelo as the point of sale and provided a copy of the purchase receipt (right).
Usage details
YCSD investigators also obtained the voice and text usage details for the prepaid cell phone identified as 662-587-XXXX for the month prior to Veronica Smith's death.
