About the current investigationErnie Parrish, the security guard at the local newspaper, heard gunshots around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019, and called 911.

By the time officers arrived at the scene a few minutes later, Mr. Parrish had found the managing editor, Monica Drum, dead in her office.
