Joe Swift bio
Joseph Samuel Swift was born May 7, 1989, to Adelaide Dixie Swift and Joseph Henry "Bubba" Swift in Jackson, Mississippi. Joe's father, Bubba, worked as a truck driver for Jackson Rapid Delivery Service and spent many weeks on the road. Adelaide, several years Bubba's junior, was often restless and lonely during these absences.
When Joe was seven years old, his parents divorced, and his mother moved to Oxford. When Joe graduated from high school, Addie moved to Nashville, Tennessee with her latest boyfriend, but Joe stayed in Oxford.
He met Dana Lisa Jefferson at a 4th of July picnic in 2009 and proposed marriage on their third date. Dana, who was only 18, accepted his proposal. Their son, Michael, was born in 2011. In the years since then, numerous arguments over money led to problems in the marriage, and Joe and Dana are currently separated.
His son, Mikey, goes to Bramlett Elementary School in Oxford and is a pitcher for the Little League. In his free time, Joe likes to fish and play poker.
Joe has worked as a groundskeeper for Rowan Oak for the last eight years. He was at work when the body was found but was not at the scene when officers arrived.
