Dale King neighbor canvass

Deputy P.J. Watson and Officer Maria Richards canvassed Dale King's neighborhood on South Lamar Boulevard in Oxford.

The neighbors were questioned about whether they had seen Mr. King during the time Andrea Stover was killed—the night of February 27, 2022, or the early morning hours of February 28, 2022.

The interviews summarized are some of the most typical or relevant to the investigation and are representative of all interviews conducted.

With the exception of the following, all neighbors said they had retired before 11:00 p.m. or were out of town on the night in question.

Nesbitt

Florence Nesbitt
2154 S. Lamar Blvd.

Ms. Nesbitt said she was preparing for bed when she heard Dale King's car enter his driveway at around 12:15 a.m. She recognized his car because it makes a distinctive noise that had become familiar to her.

At that time, she looked out her window long enough to see Mr. King exit his vehicle and enter the house. She did not hear him leave during the time she finished her preparation for bed.

Ms. Nesbitt said she looked out the window again around 12:40 a.m. just before she set her alarm for the next morning and went to bed. She saw Dale King's car was parked in the same place and that he appeared to be moving around inside his house.

Hurlback

Jason Hurlback
2159 S. Lamar Blvd.

Mr. Hurlback said he and his wife were returning from a day in Memphis when they saw Dale King's car turn into his driveway at the same time they were pulling into their driveway across the street.

Mr. Hurlback estimated the time as about 12:20 a.m. because he and his wife were discussing what good time they had made from Memphis. The trip usually takes about 90 minutes, and they had made it in just under that time even with a rest stop.

Just before he went to bed around 12:45 a.m., Mr. Hurlback opened his front door to let his cat in and noticed the lights were on in Dale King's house. He said he could see Mr. King through the window talking on the phone.
