Emergency services called to Mimosa Drive home

Ambulance transported one to hospital, police still on scene

crime scene taping blocking a road

Earlier this evening, police and an ambulance were dispatched to a residence on Mimosa Drive where someone reportedly experienced breathing difficulties during a party.

Sources at the scene say one person was transported to the hospital, but officers of the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department are still at the location, and the coroner's office has reportedly been called.

Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Elizabeth Jones would not comment on what occurred at the residence tonight, saying the department is still working to determine what happened.

Witnesses in the area report seeing several people transported from the scene in YCSD vehicles, Jones declined to identify the people or to say where they were being taken or why.

When asked why the coroner's office had been summoned, Jones confirmed that one person in the residence was deceased but emphasized that the cause of death had not yet been determined.

YCSD detectives are on the scene and are actively investigating.
