Maxwell neighbor canvass

After Cameron and Caitlin Maxwell were reported missing on January 5, 2014, Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's investigators canvassed homes near the Maxwell family residence at 103 Pleasant Drive. They were looking for potential witnesses who saw or heard anything that might shed light on Cameron and/or Caitlin Maxwell's current whereabouts.

The interviews summarized are some of the most typical or relevant to the investigation and are representative of all interviews conducted.


David Sherwood
102 Pleasant Drive

The Sherwood residence is located northwest of the Maxwells, diagonally across street.

Mr. Sherwood said he last saw Cameron and Caitlin Maxwell on Monday evening, December 30, 2013, outside their residence.

Sherwood said he has no knowledge of any arguments, conflict, or unusual activity at Maxwell residence, and described the Maxwells as "ideal neighbors."

Sherwood said he did not recall seeing any unusual vehicles or activity in neighborhood.

 

Joyce Franklin
10104 Pleasant Drive

The Franklin residence is located next door to the Maxwells, to the west.

Mrs. Franklin said she last saw Cameron and Caitlin Maxwell on or about December 21 or 22, 2013.

Franklin said she and her family were out of town in Jackson, MS, from December 23, 2013 through January 4, 2014 for the holidays.

Franklin said she was unaware of any altercations or arguments between the Maxwells and calls them "wonderful people."

Franklin said she did not recall seeing any unusual vehicles or activity in neighborhood.

 

Barry McCaslin
105 Pleasant Drive

The McCaslin residence is located next door to the Maxwells, to the east.

Mr. McCaslin said he last saw Cameron Maxwell in the Maxwells' driveway on Monday, December 30, 2013. McCaslin last saw Caitlin Maxwell in the Maxwells' backyard on Tuesday afternoon, December 31, 2013.

McCaslin said he did not hear anything on January 3, 2014, between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., but said his bedroom is on far east corner of his residence and it was unlikely he would hear.

McCaslin described the Maxwells as good neighbors and quiet.

McCaslin said he does not know of the Maxwell family to argue, but said he did see one altercation between Austin and Todd Maxwell last year, around time of Austin Maxwell's arrest. McCaslin characterized the incident as a minor altercation in the driveway with no physical contact.

McCaslin said he did not recall seeing any unusual vehicles or activity in neighborhood.
