Staff Writer

Earlier today, the deceased body of Spenser Brooks, the Oxford District Attorney was found at Wall Doxey State Park.

Officials from the Yoknapatawpha Sheriff's Department announced that the body of the 41-year-old DA was found by a citizen staying at the park and that the victim apparently was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head.

Few details are known at this time, and authorities have declined to comment any further. Public Information Officer Elizabeth Jones did say that detectives have classified Brook's death as a homicide.

District Attorney Brooks took over the DA's seat by popular vote in 2007. He was known as a hardnosed DA who always got great results. Brook is survived by his wife Virginia Brooks and a teenage son Wesley Brooks.
