Reporting Officer's Narrative

REPORTING OFFICER'S NARRATIVE(Brief narrative of the facts surrounding the offense and the arrest.)

At 4:15 p.m., R/Is went to the defendant's residence to execute an arrest warrant and take the defendant into custody. Upon arrival at the scene, R/Is entered the residence and spoke with the defendant's mother. She indicated that the defendant was upstairs in his room, and she called the defendant downstairs.

R/Is observed the defendant come to the top of the stairs, look down to see the R/Is, and come downstairs. The defendant began asking if he could answer any more questions or provide any further assistance. When informed of the arrest warrant and charges that had been filed against him, the defendant sighed, dropped his head, and prepared himself to leave.

R/Is advised the defendant of his rights and placed him under arrest. R/Is transported the defendant to the Yoknapatawpha County Detention Center for processing.

DEFENDANT'S VERSION/REMARKS(What did the defendant say?)

Prior to his arrest, the defendant said he would be happy to answer any additional questions about the investigation or assist in any manner possible. When informed of the charges against him and advised of his rights, the defendant made no further comment.

The defendant made no additional remarks until he was being processed at the detention center, at which time he notified the booking officer that he wished to speak with R/Is.

Upon receiving notification of the defendant's request, R/Is escorted him to an interview room at the sheriff's department adjacent to the detention center.

At all times while being taken into custody and after he was in custody, the defendant cooperated physically and did not resist in any way.
