Evidence: Notebook Translation | |||
YOKNAPATAWPHA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT Investigating Officer(s): Det. S. Murphy, Det. T. Armstrong This notebook was among the evidence collected at the crime scene. The majority of the notebook contains sketches and notes on a variety of topics, but mostly to do with the TINAG game. Some entries are references to diving expeditions in Thailand, Egypt and Samothraki and contact details for a Gideon Shapiro. The notebook, which appears to have originally been the property of Achim Michaelis, was written in German. The notebook has been translated from German and selected entries that seem potentially relevant to this investigation are provided below. On board of the Saos. After one hour we saw the shape of Mount Fengari in the haze. I'm happy to be here again. Kamariotissa looked the same as last year. I got the feeling that I haven't been away. A lot of people in the harbor. Old trucks with vegetables and fruits were leaving the ferry -- busy at work. A lot of noise. People speaking Greek. I understood only a little. I looked around. Stratos wasn't there. We had a drink in a bar near the harbor. Then we took the bus to Therma. I didn't want to stay at the rooms where I and Elena once stayed. I think they will ask a lot of questions. Where is your wife? What happened? I know it will look very strange to them, to see me with another woman now. We took a room from Kaskabanis near the forest. Today we spend a lazy day on the beach. In the evening, I met Stratos. His mother was ill and so he was in Hora the day before. Tomorrow we will visit Paleiopolis. Stratos is the best travel guide you can imagine. He knows a lot about ancient Greece and the excavations. His grandfather worked here in the thirties and Stratos knows a lot of exciting stories that you won't find in a tourist guide. Magdalena got very interested too. When Stratos mentioned some names, she said maybe one of the archaeologists is an ancestor of hers. That would be funny. It's a small world. Isn't that what they say? Today we climbed to the waterfalls of Fonias. Puh, that was a hard piece of work. I should quit smoking. Fonias is really a holy and beautiful place. I wonder why it is called Fonias, that means murderer. Maybe an accident happened here. I have to ask Stratos about this. We took a bath in the very cold water. You can't stay long in it. It's too cold, but after a bath you feel fresh and clean. We lay down for two hours on the rocks in the sun. Magdalena looked fair and beautiful. Note: This is the final entry in the notebook.
