Case Description: Cameron & Caitlin Maxwell Homicide Investigation

On January 7, 2014, the detectives requested YCSD call/dispatch records for all dark vehicle reports, two-door vehicle reports, and suspicious vehicle reports for the time period 1/2/14 through 1/5/14. They were looking for any reports potentially involving a dark-colored hatchback consistent with Kristi Dawes' description of a vehicle she saw near the Eastgate Shopping Center. Only one report was found matching those criteria.

Complainant:   Alan Philbert
Complainant Address:   158 Cullen Road, Oxford, MS

Complainant said he was driving behind the vehicle, traveling east on Molly Barr Road. Complainant said he stopped for gas and the vehicle continued east on Molly Barr Road.
Disposition:   Dispatch alerted patrol units. Deputies responded to the location and patrolled the area, but did not find the vehicle. No further sightings of the vehicle were reported.

  • The key to this case is finding this car. Need to check the motor transport dept. to get the information on cars answering to the description of the dark hatchback. Alan Philbert did say it was a Honda, but need to check other makes in case he was wrong regarding the make. If my maths is correct isn't this incident nearly 19 hours after the incident at the Shopping Centre.? The same car that was seen by Kristi Dawes on McLarty road, and now it is going to dispose of their luggage.

  • Good catch on the timeline, cfp. I don't have a theory on that yet.
If I am reading the map correctly, the hatch back is headed in the direction of the Dickerson Ranch although only in a pretty general way. The coincidence of Dawes' description and a bundled blanket in the back is obviously suggestive...Hmmmm

  • if the large bulky locad covered with blankets , were covering the license plate it indicates that some weight draw it to it's formation.
