Reporting Officer's Narrative

REPORTING OFFICER'S NARRATIVE (Brief narrative of the facts surrounding the offense and the arrest.)

At 9:45 a.m., Reporting Investigators (R/Is) Detectives T. Armstrong and H. Musgrove arrived at Elizabeth Barton's residence at 574 Webb Street to arrest Elizabeth Barton in connection with the death of Oscar Knight.

R/Is knocked on the front door of the residence and announced themselves. When the defendant opened the door, R/Is placed the defendant under arrest. The defendant was handcuffed and advised of her rights. Transportation to the Sheriff’s Department proceeded without incident.

At 10:02 a.m., R/Is turned the defendant over to Sheriff’s Department personnel for processing. At all times while in custody, the defendant appeared lucid and coherent. During transport, the defendant was cooperative and seemed to comprehend what was happening to her.

DEFENDANT'S VERSION/REMARKS (What did the defendant say?)

The defendant said she understood her rights, but repeatedly said she did not understand why she had been arrested. The defendant cooperated physically and did not resist in any way.
