Detective Magee spoke to her at her apartment.

Detective Magee: Sorry to interrupt whatever you're doing here. This shouldn't take long. Please state your name and address for the record.

Shiloh Bates: I'm Shiloh, and I live right here. You're sitting in my living room. And we're making a sex video. Nothing that people didn't get to see when we lived at Under Glass.

Detective Magee: Before you say anything else, we need you to state your full name and your address for the record.

Shiloh Bates: Oh, my God. My full name is Shiloh Saffron Bates, and my current address is 1021 Molly Barr Road.

Detective Magee: How long have you lived here?

Shiloh Bates: Why? We aren't doing anything wrong. We don't need a permit from the city or anything, do we? Why all the questions?

Detective Magee: I need you to answer, please.

Shiloh Bates: Fine. I've lived here since that bastard threw me out on the street.

Detective Magee: What was the date?

Shiloh Bates: I got thrown out on September 29th. I moved in here the next day.

Detective Magee: Where did you live previously?

Shiloh Bates: Oh, please. You know where. At Under Glass on Muirfield Drive, and I lived there from, like, August 2021 or something. Like from the beginning. I made that horrible man so much money.

Detective Magee: What is the horrible man's name?

Shiloh Bates: Hoyt Biffle. He owns Under Glass. But you know all of this already. I thought I was through with ridiculous questions when I moved away from freaking Lamey Bitch-hell.

Detective Magee: I'm sorry, freaking who?

Shiloh Bates: Lacey Mitchell. But you knew that, too. What do you want from me?

Detective Magee: What kind of questions did Lacey ask?

Shiloh Bates: Lame questions. She was practicing her witness cross-examination skills. She thought she was clever and discreet, but she was clumsy and obvious. 

Detective Magee: Did she ask questions about Mr. Biffle?

Shiloh Bates: I never listened, so I couldn't tell you. That girl would do well to get herself a hair net and practice asking, "May I take your order?"

Detective Magee: Did Lacey get along with the other residents?

Shiloh Bates: I really couldn't tell you. I did my own thing. They could've been having pillow fights to get viewership, but I didn't pay any attention to the other residents.

Detective Magee: Do you know if the other residents got along with Mr. Biffle?

Shiloh Bates: It is beneficial to get along with Mr. Biffle. I wasn't anyone's confidant. Well, except for Wyatt, and his relationship with Mr. Biffle was the same as my relationship with Mr. Biffle.

Detective Magee: Which is what?

Shiloh Bates: None whatsoever, now. That pile of crap is a grease spot in the rearview mirror of my life.

Detective Magee: When was the last time you saw him?

Shiloh Bates: Couldn't tell ya.

Detective Magee: Why is that?

Shiloh Bates: Because I don't remember, that's why. He didn't even show up to throw me out. Did it over the phone. Spineless. Weak.

Detective Magee: When was the last time you were at the Under Glass house?

Shiloh Bates: September 29th. Why?

Detective Magee: And you didn't see Mr. Biffle at that time?

Shiloh Bates: No. I told you. In fact, I hardly ever saw him outside of the mandatory outings to show off his harem. I never minded those, though. Free food and excellent marketing. Otherwise, he did business over the phone or by text…email…Why all these questions about Hoyt?

Detective Magee: Where were you today between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.?

Shiloh Bates: Here. I was here. Look, what is going on?

Detective Magee: Can anyone corroborate that for you?

Shiloh Bates: Yes, Wyatt. We were here.

Detective Magee: Anyone else?

Shiloh Bates: No, but we were, you know, filming.

Detective Magee: When you were evicted on September 29th, did you threaten Mr. Biffle or anyone else living in the house?

Shiloh Bates: Uh, no. No, I didn't. Threaten.

Detective Magee: What did you do?

Shiloh Bates: I… I wrote something. What is going on here? Is something wrong with Hoyt? Did something happen?

Detective Magee: He's dead.

Shiloh Bates: He's … are you sure?

Detective Magee: Very. Miss Bates, what was the message you left on the day you were evicted?

Shiloh Bates: I just…it wasn't a threat. I wrote, "I'll be the one laughing when karma catches you."

Detective Magee: Where did you leave that message?

Shiloh Bates: On the mirror in my room. With a lip liner pencil.

Detective Magee: And you're saying that it wasn't a threat?

Shiloh Bates: Yes. It wasn't. I didn't mean anything by it.

Detective Magee: Why were you evicted?

Shiloh Bates: For a stupid reason. Wyatt and I were sneaking off to have sex.

Detective Magee: Were you unfairly treated?

Shiloh Bates: Well, at the time— at that time, I was really upset. I was making him money. I broke the rules, but I was still making him money.

Detective Magee: Were you in violation of your contract with Mr. Biffle?

Shiloh Bates: Yes.

Detective Magee: Have you ever been in the control shed in the backyard of the Under Glass house?

Shiloh Bates: No. I don't go in there.

Detective Magee: Did Mr. Biffle have any enemies that you know of?

Shiloh Bates: No. I don't know. Those people from COP are the only people I ever heard say anything threatening.

Detective Magee: You mean, besides you?

Shiloh Bates: That wasn't— we didn't mean anything.

Detective Magee: We?

Shiloh Bates: I mean, Wyatt yelled at Hoyt in the camera as we were leaving, but he didn't mean anything.

Detective Magee: What did he say?

Shiloh Bates: He said, "Your ass is mine, Biffle." Or something. But he didn't mean it. He didn't. And we were home together all afternoon.

Detective Magee: Can you see how that wouldn't provide much confidence in either story, Miss Bates?

Shiloh Bates: Look, I can show you on the video camera. We were filming—

Detective Magee: You could've previously filmed that and set it up tonight.

Shiloh Bates: No! I can show you! We were using these—

Detective Magee: Please don't reach for anything, Miss Bates. I can see the props you're referring to.

Shiloh Bates: I didn't kill Hoyt. I was mad, yes. I wrote a nasty message in lip liner, yes. It also was a show for my fans. And that's what Wyatt and I are trying to do here tonight—film something for my fans. We were here. Working. I swear.

Detective Magee: Can you think of anyone we should speak to?

Shiloh Bates: I'm really shaken by this. No one comes to mind right now.

Detective Magee: If you think of anything, please call.
