Zach found a memo requesting additional security in Professor Lowry's trash

One of the things Zach found in Professor Lowry's trash was this memo asking the history department chair for more security after we found the bone.

TO: Dr. ROBERT M. MILLER, Chair of History Department
FROM: Dr. CHARLES B. LOWRY, Professor of Civil War Studies
DATE: August 6, 2015
SUBJECT: Security at "Y" Building

Dr. Miller —

During the months of August and September I will need extra security at the "Y" Building.

As you know, my team has been investigating the site for weeks, and in order to maintain progress, we feel the area should be secured and kept off limits from the public.

Also, it is imperative that my team and I are solely responsible for the excavation.

There has been interest from other departments, but this is clearly a matter for the history department. We must not share these findings until they are conclusive.

There is more to this mystery than meets the eye. Please call if you have any questions.

Could Prof. Lowry's "team" be the people that the kids saw going in and out?

That is what I was thinking. We need more information, though.

Also, is this a draft or was the memo never sent?

So two days after the kids discover the femur he requests securty for an excavation that is taking place...no doubt to uncover some kind of support for his academic research...but what research? His main area of interest surrounds speculating...

His main area of interest surrounds speculating what the South would be like if it won the Civil War, yes? How would excavation aid him in his research?

Does it not say that the building is being renovated, so how can renovation and an excavation take place without any discourse at the same time???

He wants to make sure that he gets the credit for anything important. He doesn't sound like a very nice person.

Leanne1410,I began to think of that also. When any type of renovation happens in a 'public' building the area is roped off for liability reasons. It may not be Fort Knox, but you don't let people in. We don't know what type of renovation is...

Leanne1410,I began to think of that also. When any type of renovation happens in a 'public' building the area is roped off for liability reasons. It may not be Fort Knox, but you don't let people in. We don't know what type of renovation is going on, it may be new carpet and paint or it may be a serious gut job, we don't know. However, I would imagine that the University would be loath to let a student 'team' into the area. Easy enough for the kids to sneak in but I would guess the renovations must be pretty minor to allow the 'team' in for 'excavation'. Or....Lowery didn't send the memo because he realized that he was drawing attention to activities that the University wouldn't sanction and that his request would bring unwanted scrutiny to his secret (paranoid?) research, thus the memo in the trash...hmmm
