Thing is, Ken is my prime suspect. But, this interview makes me second guess my original theory. It's obvious those items were his (the trash bags and altoid can) but, his reaction to why they had his altoid can is what leads me to believe...

Kenneth gets quite agitated about Billie not being involved but I still wonder. The police said that Kenneth broke into Veronica's house while the family was out but there was no mention that any of the windows or doors looked tampered with....

The police said that Kenneth broke into Veronica's house while the family was out but there was no mention that any of the windows or doors looked tampered with. Billie had possession of the house keys and the garage door opener for a length of time. Did Kenneth pinch them to copy or did Billie do that. He may get away with it but I still think Billie was involved somehow - we may never know
