So how far is it between the crime scene and the dance venue? Is it possible that George could have traveled between the two places during the time he was absent from the dance?

According to Google Maps, it is between 9 and 11 minutes driving.

I think it's highly unlikely George could have left the dance to kill Veronica, stage her suicide and return to the dance seemingly unnoticed within that timespan. Especially if he is as clumsy as everyone says he is.

If he has anything to do with the death of Veronica he must have contacted someone by phone during the time he was "cleaning up". Now this is purely hypothetical. Only way to know for sure is to have a look at the call history on George's phone.

Interestingly, there is a call from George to Veronica during the time in question, according to her phone log.

Could George be calling the killer to see if it's "safe" to return home?

If George did leave the dance and returned home, the traffic cameras would've picked it up. There are cameras along all 3 routes at 434 College Hill Rd, 781 Molly Barr Rd & 1098 Jackson Ave. Unless George ran, which isn't really possible to do in...

There are cameras along all 3 routes at 434 College Hill Rd, 781 Molly Barr Rd & 1098 Jackson Ave. Unless George ran, which isn't really possible to do in 20 minutes, then there's no way he could've got there and back without being spotted.
