Reporting Officer's Narrative

REPORTING OFFICER'S NARRATIVE (Brief narrative of the facts surrounding the offense and the arrest.)

On Wednesday, April 29, at 2:45 p.m., Reporting Investigators (R/Is) Detectives S. Murphy and E. Parker arrived at Jill Osborne's residence, 418 North 15th Street. They arrested Jill Osborne for the homicide of Professor Douglas Reed.

As R/Is exited the vehicle, the defendant came out of her front door, and R/Is placed the defendant under arrest. The defendant was handcuffed and advised of her rights. Defendant then began to sob uncontrollably, and R/Is had to assist her into the vehicle. Transportation to the Sheriff's Department proceeded without incident.

At 3:02 p.m., R/Is turned the defendant over to Sheriff's Department personnel for processing. At all times while in custody, the defendant appeared lucid and coherent. During transport, the defendant was cooperative and seemed to comprehend what was happening to her.

DEFENDANT'S VERSION/REMARKS (What did the defendant say?)

After acknowledging that she understood her rights, the defendant began to sob uncontrollably. The defendant continued to sob as R/Is turned her over to Sheriff's Department personnel for processing. The defendant cooperated physically and did not resist in any way.
