The witness was identified as Lisa Wood, age 25. Detective Armstrong interviewed Wood at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Office. The interview was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with the witness's knowledge and consent.

TA: State your name and address for the record.

LW: Lisa Wood. I live at 310 N 16th Street, right here in Oxford.

TA: Were you acquainted with the victim, Valerie Vilson?

LW: Yes.

TA: How did you know her?

LW: We shared some classes. We shared just about all classes. We both are --were in the theatre department at Ole Miss. I guess I'm still in the department. I haven't thought about it.

TA: Was she acting unusual in the days before the murder? Was anyone or anything bothering her.

LW: Val always had a tragedy. Things like, will she get an A on the Dress and Decor paper or an A minus or what if the cafeteria is out of yogurt? It was never anything serious --not like to get killed over. Ya know? I really hadn't spent lots of outside class time with her. I'm dating a new guy and we've been doing our own thing.

TA: Was Val, the victim dating anyone?

LW: Other than Greg? No. She had some guy friends, but that's it.

TA: Anyone in particular?

LW: Joel Shenton was someone I saw her with a lot. They were doing a show together.

TA: Was there anything romantic?

LW: I don't think they ever hooked up --had sex. I really don't think she was messing around.

TA: The night of the murder, you told investigators she was with a man at the bar, Proud Larry's. Was that man Greg Giblini?

LW: No. I don't know who he was. I'd never seen him before that night.

TA: When did you first see him?

LW: That night at Larry's. He was sitting alone at the bar drinking a beer. A Black Voodoo beer.

TA: Can you describe him?

LW: It was dark in there. He was cute though, with red hair.

TA: What was cute about him?

LW: I was drunk by then. I don't know. I think I remember his hair and that he looked, looked --sort of tough.

TA: Can you tell me anything else about Vilson that evening. Can you describe her mood?

LW: We didn't talk that night, but she did seem happy. I think I remember her laughing at at he bar. No wait, when she left with him, she held his arm and laughed. I'm sure.

TA: Can you recall anything else?

LW: I think I recalled plenty for a drunk gal at a bar, don't you?

TA: Yes ma'am. We'll call you again if there is anything else.

LW: There is one question.

TA: Yes?

LW: The Unsolved Mystery TV people are doing something about the case. Is it a problem if I tell them what I told you. Some producer is calling everyone.

TA: It'd be best if you didn't talk to them, but it won't hurt our case.

LW: Good. Thanks.
