Evidence: DNA Comparison Results

DNA Test Results

Initially the importance of blood on the cat was discounted. Fortunately, it was discovered that the Veterinarian had retained blood-stained cat hair samples. These samples were tested.

RFLP Analysis
A DNA test was performed by the Mississippi Paternity Testing Laboratory using RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) mapping, a technique pioneered by the Metro-Dade Police Department Lab in crime scene evidence analysis. Samples from Giblin, the victim and the cat were compared against the blood-stained cat hair.

Results
The blood samples retrieved from the cat hair do not match any of the participants in the case. The blood came from a third party. However, there is an unusual match, marked A, on the diagram. Gender specific banding, marked B, indicates the sample was from a male.
