Detective Ted Armstrong
Detective Samantha Murphy
Kyle Colby
Detective Armstrong: Hello, Kyle. Got your handy bat and knife?
Kyle Colby: Same smart mouth you had the last time I was here. Why don't you get a real job? I could sue you for false accusation.
Detective Armstrong: I'd love to see that happen. Let's hear your name and address before we begin in earnest. Do you remember that?
Kyle Colby: You know my address, but you just had to ask, didn't you? I still live at 1006 Jackson Avenue, right here in good old Oxford. Got it?
Detective Armstrong: Got it. We'd like to know a little more about your relationship with Victor Jennings.
Kyle Colby: What relationship? I didn’t even know him.
Detective Murphy: Yet, you went to his home.
Kyle Colby: That was a long time before the guy was clipped.
Detective Armstrong: But you came back later and "clipped" him, didn’t you?
Kyle Colby: I've never iced anyone! Why are you trying to lay this on me? Having a hard time working it all out?
Detective Armstrong: We're closing in, Kyle. That's why you're here.
Kyle Colby: I keep telling you, I don't know anything. You're looking for something that ain't there, dude.
Detective Murphy: Tell us again about your encounter with Carl Asher.
Kyle Colby: Oh, that guy was hard core. I’ve met some tough guys, but Asher wasn't one to mess around. He told me to his boss wasn't there and I better leave the premises before he had to do something drastic.
Detective Murphy: Something drastic?
Kyle Colby: He casually moved his jacket and I saw a gun handle sticking out of his shoulder holster. His eyes were cold and hard, like he was looking at nothing.
Detective Murphy: So, it scared you? You act like a tough guy, Kyle. Surely, just seeing a gun in a holster wouldn't be enough to cause you to run with your tail between your legs, like a scared puppy?
Kyle Colby: Listen, lady, I’ve met tough dudes before, but Asher was the real thing. He could've killed me without blinking an eye. I'm tough, but I'm not an idiot. I got out of there.
Detective Murphy: But you didn't tell this to Kristin, right?
Kyle Colby: No way! I gotta keep up my front, you know? I'm her hero.
Detective Armstrong: That's too bad, because if she ever really needs you, you won't be there. Cowards never are.
Kyle Colby: You oughta know. Wimp. You'd mess your pants if Asher looked at you the way he looked at me. I bet he's killed before. You need to do your job and stop picking on innocent people like me. I'm done. I’m outta here.
Detective Murphy: I have a feeling we will need to talk to you again.
Kyle Colby: You better come with a warrant, 'cause I ain't coming back here.
Detective Armstrong: Have a nice day, punk.
