Interview Summaries: Neighbors of Weldon Foyle, victim's student

On July 13, 2004, the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department conducted a canvass of the neighborhood of witness Weldon Foyle's residence, looking for potential witnesses who might have seen Kristi Waterson in the area. The interviews summarized are some of the most typical or relevant to the investigation and are representative of all interviews conducted.

  • James Campbell, age 24, mechanic, 603 North 14th Street, Oxford, MS 38655

Mr. Campbell was shown a photo of Kristi Waterson and said that he had seen her in the vicinity of Weldon Foyle's residence. He said "I never saw her actually go into the house, but I saw her in the driveway and stuff." Mr. Campbell recalled that he had seen Ms. Waterson on three occasions, all at night, and each time she appeared to be walking toward "to where that Weldon guy lives."

  • Cecilia Jackson, age 30, call center operator, 602 North 14th Street, Oxford, MS 38655

Ms. Jackson was shown a photo of Kristi Waterson and said that she had not seen her in the vicinity of Weldon Foyle's residence.

  • Anne Jaye, age 20, UM student/waitress, 609 North 14th Street, Oxford, MS 38655

Ms. Jaye was shown a photo of Kristi Waterson and said that she had seen her in the vicinity of Weldon Foyle's residence. "Yeah, I saw her walking in the door a couple of times. Hell, she's famous on campus. So I wasn't surprised to see her going into some guy's house." Ms. Jaye said that she recalled seeing Ms. Waterson enter Mr. Foyle's residence once "about the middle of the semester -- around midterms" and again "just after Intersession started," but could not give a specific date. Ms. Jaye saw Ms. Waterson enter the Foyle residence but did not see her leave.

  • Rosemary Jacobsen, age 76, retired, 608 North 14th Street, Oxford, MS 38655

Ms. Jacobsen was shown a photo of Kristi Waterson and said that she had not seen her in the vicinity of Weldon Foyle's residence. However, Ms. Jacobsen noted her advanced age and qualified her statement by saying "My eyesight isn't that good, so she might have been there but I couldn't tell that it was her."
