Kemtec Crime SceneThis exercise introduces the younger student to some of the techniques needed to process a secured crime scene. Students must use reasoning, common sense and math skills, as well as the sciences of biology and chemistry as they enter a criminal investigation. Students will proceed through an investigation concerning a rural cabin and it's possible relationship to a murder scene. They will analyze soil, hair, rope, "trash", do mapping, and interpret "police" data. The students must determine whether or not the cabin was the actual crime scene.
This activity is suitable for children grades 5-8 and there are enough materials suitable for 24 students in groups of 4 or in pairs. Materials Included:
