Oxford Eagle

The finger that was discovered by Cassie Foster on August 8, 2009 at
the Days
Inn has now been positively identified via fingerprint match. The
Yoknapatawpha
Sheriff’s Department has informed the Eagle and local news
stations that
the finger belonged to Oscar Knight (63) of Tupelo, Mississippi.
"The Department has suspected that
Oscar Knight was the victim for some
time now," said Elizabeth Jones, information officer for the YSD. "We
know that several people thought that Knight killed someone in that
room but
generally a killer wouldn't take the time to clean up and then leave
all of his
belongings and his car behind. Now that we know who, where and when we
can move
on to why."
Mr. Knight's immediate family has
been contacted and refused to give a
statement.
With this new information, the
investigation will be heading in a
different direction. All of the parts that have been discovered to date
are
male. The YSD believe that the thumb, the feet and the pelvis all
belong to the
same person.
Mr. Knight was apparently in town
to attend the Marshall Family reunion
that was held at Lamar Park on August 7, 2009.
No murder weapon has been recovered. |
