Press Report: Finger found at Days Inn

Oxford Eagle Sunday, August 9, 2009

By KELLY SHACKLETON
Staff Writer

A 911 call was made to Yoknapatawpha dispatch on August 8 claiming that a maid at the Days Inn had found a human finger under a piece of furniture in Room 117. Lewis Silky, owner and operator of the hotel, made the call, stating, "I have no idea how long that finger has been there. My maids usually do a very thorough cleaning job.  We pride ourselves on our cleanliness."

Reporters later discovered that Cassie Foster was the maid who found the digit. Ms. Foster would not comment on the find.

Silky said that Oscar Knight was staying in the room and that "he was a mean person and people should be on the lookout for him."

The local sheriff said,  "There is no cause for alarm and the last thing we need right now is panic. I want the citizens of Oxford to go about their daily business as usual. All we have is a finger, there is no body."

Davis Myers who was staying in the room next to Knight added, "That man (Knight) was a trouble maker, he pounded on my wall and slammed doors."

The sheriff informed us that a full investigation has begun and will keep us updated on new developments.
