Detective Ted Armstrong
Detective Samantha Murphy
Lewis Silky
Detective Murphy: Would you
please
state your name and address for the record?
Lewis Silky: Why certainly. My full name is Lewis Oleander
Silky and I live
on 1101 Frontage Road at the Days
Inn here in
Oxford. As you know I own it.
Detective Murphy: How are you today Mr. Silky?
Lewis Silky: Oh please call me Lewis. I am doing all right, a
little shook
up still about the event at my hotel you see.
Detective Armstrong: That is understandable. We need to ask
you a few
questions, Lewis, and we need you to do your best to remember, okay?
Lewis Silky: Yes sir. I shall tell you everything I know.
Detective Murphy: Let's start with the night Oscar Knight
checked into your
hotel. Can you remember anything about him?
Lewis Silky: As a matter of fact I do. He seemed to be mad at
the world.
He…I thought he was going to hit me the very first time I met him!
Detective Murphy: Tell us what happened that night Lewis.
Lewis Silky: All right. I recall that it was after 5 and he
came in and
seemed to be in a big hurry. He asked for a room that was away from
other
guests. Said he liked his privacy. I told him that we did
redecorating in
March and hired all new staff and now that the place had a fresh face
and kind
employees we were pretty much full. He threw a fit. Claimed he
should get
a room for $40.00 if he had to have people in the room next to him.
Detective Murphy: Did he seem paranoid?
Lewis Silky: I don’t think so. I had already given him my
bottom dollar
price for the room though, $63.74. You just cannot beat that
price.
Detective Armstrong: Mr. Silky, we won't be staying in your
hotel so quit
trying to sell us on it. We just need information that we ask for, got
it?
Lewis Silky: Yes sir. I apologize.
Detective Murphy: You said you thought he was going to hit you?
Lewis Silky: Yes! His face turned beet red when I told him the
price and I
did find a room that had an empty room next to it but he still wasn’t
satisfied. He grabbed the key from my hand and stormed off. Then he
yelled from
the door, "I hope to God this key works!" I was just glad he didn’t
assault me.
Detective Murphy: Anything else unusual about Mr. Knight?
Lewis Silky: Yes, he came back down and complained that the
bathroom was
tiny and asked if he could be moved to a room with a bigger one. I
informed him
that all the bathrooms were the same size. It wasn't but a few hours
later he
called and was complaining about loud music. The next day the maid
assigned to
that section said he was very rude and a total slob. She
even asked
if someone else could clean his room the next day. He was that bad.
Detective Armstrong: Tell us about the day the finger was
found.
Lewis Silky: Ok. I was in the office reading a mystery novel
when Cassie
came running in screaming hysterically that she found a finger under a
dresser
in room 117. I thought she was going to pass out! She was as white as a
ghost.
I thought surely it was one of those phony Halloween fingers but it was
the
real deal.
Detective Armstrong: Did you see Mr. Knight prior to finding
the finger?
Lewis Silky: Actually, I saw him the evening before. He came
down and he
seemed to be feeling pretty chipper. He said he was going out to eat. I
recommended a few places and he actually said, "Thanks."
Detective Armstrong: Did you notice anyone going into or
coming out of Mr.
Knight's room?
Lewis Silky: Nope. I don't snoop around like that. My guests
are entitled to
their privacy after all. I like mine so I respect that.
Detective Murphy: That will be all for now. We'll be in
touch.
