Detective Samantha Murphy
Detective Ted Armstrong
Michael Langley
Detective Murphy: Good morning Mr. Langley. Before we get
started please
state your name and address for our record.
Michael Langley: My name is Michael Langley and I live
at Sterling University
Apartments.
Detective Murphy: Mr. Langley, how do you know Anna Wood?
Michael Langley: Anna is my girlfriend. We hit it off
the day we met.
She's from England and I loved her British accent. Can you please
call me
Michael? I think I’d feel more comfortable. Anna's having a hard time
forgetting what she saw in that bag. She has nightmares about it. I
think she
needs to get professional help. Maybe you could give her a call and
suggest it
to her. She won't listen to me.
Detective Murphy: Ok Michael, we'll see what we can do. Please
tell us why
you were in the park when Anna found the bag containing the body parts.
Michael Langley: Anna and I got up early like we do a
lot of mornings
and went to Lamar Park so she could jog. Jogging isn't my thing,
and she
likes to run on her own. So I take my paint supplies with me and paint
whatever
catches my eye.
Detective Armstrong: Michael, where were you when Anna found
the body parts?
Michael Langley: I was on the other side of the pond when I
heard a lot of
commotion. At first I didn't pay much attention. I saw some men
fishing
and a bunch of kids playing. There were woman standing around talking.
The men
fishing were yelling at the kids to be quiet because they were scaring
the fish
away. I was busy with my painting when I heard Anna screaming. I
dropped my
paintbrush and I ran over to where she was. She was out of breath and
looked
sick. She kept saying something about a plastic bag and how horrible
those
things are. After I calmed her down, she told me there was what looked
like
body parts in a plastic bag in the pond. I looked at the bag but I wish
now I
hadn't. It was a gruesome sight.
Detective Armstrong: Michael, did you see anyone that looked
suspicious and
could have possibly thrown that bag in the pond?
Michael Langley: I did see a guy in jogging clothes that
passed us while
Anna was warming up for her run.
Detective Murphy: Why would you think a guy in jogging
clothes would
look suspicious in a park?
Michael Langley: Because he had on a hooded shirt with the
hood up over his
head and was carrying a gym bag over his shoulder. He was breathing
hard when
he passed us.
Detective Murphy: Did you get a look at this person?
Michael Langley: I couldn't see his face because of the hood.
He turned his
head when he passed us. I did notice he was jogging slow and
looked
tired.
Detective Armstrong: Did Anna see this person?
Michael Langley: I don't think she did. She had her back
turned and was
stretching when he went by.
Detective Armstrong: Did you notice where this person went
after he passed
you?
Michael Langley: I really didn't pay attention. I was busy
getting my art
supplies out. Last I saw he was trotting away.
Detective Murphy: Michael, did you notice anyone else out of
the ordinary at
the park?
Michael Langley: There was this guy riding a Harley around the
park. I
thought he shouldn't be there because of the kids playing. I didn't
know
motorcycles were allowed in parks.
Detective Murphy: You're right. Motorcycles aren't
allowed in parks.
Michael, did you get a look at this guy?
Michael Langley: I didn't see his face since he had a helmet
on. He went
around the park a couple of times but I didn't see him stop. I
think he
may have left the park.
Detective Armstrong: Did Anna see the man on the motorcycle?
Could she
describe him for you?
Michael Langley: Yes, she did see him. She said he passed her.
Anna said he
was dressed all in black and had on a black helmet. She didn't see his
face or
see him stop anywhere.
Detective Murphy: Michael, we appreciate you coming to see us
today.
You're free to go. If you think of anything else, please feel free to
call.
Sometimes the smallest things can help solve a case.
Michael Langley: Thank you, detectives. I'm sorry I couldn’t
be of more
help. Have a good day.
