Detective Ted Armstrong
Krystal Cox
Detective Armstrong: Good morning Miss Cox. First off, we need
your name and
address for our records.
Krystal Cox: Thank you, my name is Krystal Cox and I live over at 348 N. 14th Avenue.
Detective Murphy: Krystal, please tell us where you're
employed and what
hours you work.
Krystal Cox: I'm a bartender at Murff's Bar & Grill over
on Harrison
Avenue. I work the two to ten shift, five days a week.
Detective Armstrong: Miss Cox, can you tell us anything
about a man
named Oscar Knight that came into your bar on the seventh of
August?
Krystal Cox: Call me Krystal, Miss Cox sounds too formal. To
answer your
question, I do remember him. He came in just after nine and asked me to
call
him Oscar. He was loud, obnoxious, and very full of himself. A real
know it
all. He told me he'd just left a family reunion and needed a strong
drink. He
talked nonstop while I was mixing his drink, telling me how his
relatives are
all jerks. He told me he was staying at the Days Inn and if I wanted to
have a
real good time, come and party with him after work. I politely told him
no.
Detective, does this have anything to do with the article I saw in the
newspaper about a finger found in the Days Inn? I remember Oscar said
he was
staying there. Not that I'm that concerned, but has something happened
to him?
Detective Murphy:As of now we have no reason to think
any harm has
come to Mr. Knight. We just don't know his whereabouts right now so we
haven't
been able to question him.
Detective Armstrong: Krystal, did you see Mr. Knight speaking
with anyone
else at the bar?
Krystal Cox:I don't like to gossip, but after I fixed
his drink, and
he knew he wasn't getting anywhere with me, he left and walked over and
sat
down with Latasha Harrison. She ought to have her head examined! She's
got a
good husband but she’s always trying
to make him jealous by flirting with other men. Latasha and
her husband Ron
are regulars but she comes in a lot without him. She's just a big
flirt. She knows it makes Ron furious but she does it anyway. I
think she
gets a kick out of making him angry. She and Oscar were laughing and
carrying
on must have been a good half hour or more when Ron walked in. Oscar
had his
arm around her so needless to say Ron didn't look happy. He's the
jealous type
and didn't want Latasha even talking to other men. He and Oscar had a
few
words, and then Oscar left.
Detective Armstrong: Did you overhear any of the
conversation between
Mr. Knight and Mr. Harrison?
Krystal Cox: Yeah, some of it. Ron was telling Oscar he'd
better get out and
stay away from his wife. Oscar told Ron that his wife was coming on to
him. Ron
looked like he wanted to punch Oscar out but let him walk by. Ron told
Oscar
not come back around his wife or else. Oscar made it a point to say
goodbye to
me and thanked me for the drink.
Detective Murphy: Did anything happen between Ron and Latasha
after Mr.
Knight left?
Krystal Cox: Ron was really angry at his wife. He grabbed her
by her arm and
told her he'd better not catch her with him again. They continued to
argue. He
was angry and told her they were leaving, but she refused, so he walked
out by
himself. Latasha finished her drink and ordered another one. Then she
went back
to sit with the people she was sitting with before.
Detective Murphy: Krystal, do you think Ron may have
harmed Oscar?
Krystal Cox:Shoot no, Ron's not a violent person.
He just needs
to quit being so jealous of Latasha and control his temper. But in all
fairness, Latasha’s fully to blame for his jealousy. She
constantly
flirts and doesn't care what Ron thinks. The man's crazy for staying
with her.
Detective Armstrong: Thanks, Krystal, for coming to speak with
us. Here's my
card. If you think of anything, no matter how small it seems,
please give
us a call. You're free to leave.
Krystal Cox:Thanks, Detective. If I think of
anything I'll
definitely call you.
