I think the .45 shot first and took down Wayne Fisher. The third person then fired and took down Mr. Pruitt; the trajectory of that shot is on an elevated downwards motion. Either the third person is seven to eight feet tall or they were standing on something when they fired, (or had their arm raised?). The coffee table is in line with the shot.

Heated discussion? Robert might have pulled the gun out of self defense after he was hit in his face and stomach, this corroborates with the coroners report. The unknown accomplice of Wayne pulls out a gun as well after seeing Wayne get shot in the chest. He manages to hit Robert in the abdominal area due to his impaired aiming out of fear or rage (?) and makes off through the garden door with .38 pistol.

As far as I can say, I dont think Pruitt got attacked via hand to hand. The bodies seem too far away, and the lesions and abrasions can be explained by simply falling on a carpeted floor.
I'm trying to keep an open mind though.

I think who ever shot Robert Pruitt was standing on the stairs.

It also appears to me that Pruitt shot Fisher to me. I'm not quite getting the downward angle discussion.

To Igillette: To me the shot that hit Pruitt looks as though it's on a downward angle, but this could be an optical illusion I guess. I'd be interested if others see it as a downward angle or if it is a horizontal line.

Could it be that Pruitt hears something in the basement, grabs the .45 and goes down the stairs, sees Fisher and fires. Third person shoots Pruitt. If it was a simple, random burglary that gets caught in the act, then we really aren't looking at...

Could it be that Pruitt hears something in the basement, grabs the .45 and goes down the stairs, sees Fisher and fires. Third person shoots Pruitt. If it was a simple, random burglary that gets caught in the act, then we really aren't looking at Pruitt but at who Fisher would be connected to. His sons and ex-wife come obviously to mind but that seems too simple. While person number three would naturally take his/her .38 with him, where is the casing? That's seems to be a rather cool calculation for two-bit burglars. And the absence of dropped groceries still bother me...

He doesn't shoot immediately, that's for certain. You can tell from the shot he fired that he entered, walked towards them then shot. My guess is that he walked toward them slowly, saying stuff to them like "I don't want to use this" etc. Until...

He doesn't shoot immediately, that's for certain. You can tell from the shot he fired that he entered, walked towards them then shot. My guess is that he walked toward them slowly, saying stuff to them like "I don't want to use this" etc. Until he was provoked. My hypothesis is that the catalyst was mystery man starting to pull out his gun, Pruitt fires on the first one and mystery man nicks him in the abdomen.

From the positioning of the shots it actually looks like they happened right after one another. You can se the bullet that hit Fisher is still in the same trajectory of where Pruitts body is, so Pruitt shot then got shot before he could move.

daroo196 I have to agree with you, the diagrams appear to be an optical illusion, after reading the comments I went back and looked at Mr Pruitt's Autopsy Report and if you look at the diagram in said report; you see the bullet appears to enter...
