Buzz Dakota, an eccentric, 55-year-old, Caucasian male, appeared at the Sheriff’s office to voluntarily provide information pertaining to this case. The interview was conducted at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff’s Department and was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with witness’s knowledge and consent.

  • Detective Terrence Nelson
  • Buzz Dakota

Detective Nelson: Good afternoon, Buzz. It’s nice to see you again. I see you’re wearing your aluminum hat. I hope it’s still doing a good job of protecting you. So what brings you here to see us today?

Buzz Dakota: I wear it to keep them aliens away. I gotta tell you about them. They were out at that place they call the pot farm. I heard them communicating with--on my transistor radio, so I went out there and I actually got a look at them!

Detective Nelson: Whoa, whoa, whoa, Buzz. You know how it goes. First, you've got to tell me your name and address for the record. Then you can tell me what you saw.

Buzz Dakota: All right. I’m Buzz Dakota. I rent a room in the basement at 111 Price Hill Road.

Detective Nelson: Can you tell me again what were you doing out at the pot farm?

Buzz Dakota: Been watching that place, and there's strange things going on out there. I been hearing them transmissions so I took my telescope out there to look for Martians. I saw some alien ships over there. They looked like stars, but they was alien ships.

Detective Nelson: When did you see these stars?

Buzz Dakota: Was ships, not stars! It was Friday night late when I saw them aliens. I was in the grass behind the trees when I heard the engine noise, so I put on my invisible armor, and I saw three of them, and they beamed up to their spaceship, and then later when they beamed down again, there was only two. Now, I bet they finished experimenting on him and just left him there. Then I seen in the paper that he was dead, so I come to tell y’all. That poor soul! We got to protect ourselves! You know they’re everywhere, and they disguise themselves to look just like we do. I can hear them all the time on the radio, transmitting messages to each other. Now, we gotta stop ‘em before they take over our planet. They could be anywhere. I got to go. They can’t find out where I am.

Detective Nelson: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Buzz. I know you need to go, but I just want to let you know we sure do appreciate your information. Do you need a lift back to your place?

Buzz Dakota: No, no, I'm all right. I just gotta--I gotta put on my invisible armor, that's all. I’m gone.

Interview ends: 12:55 PM
