Young Woman Found Dead in Woods by Local Hunter
Foul Play Suspected

By KELLY SHACKLETON
Staff Writer

Investigators report that the body of Ms. Amy Bledsoe, 19, of Oxford, was found in the woods off Route 7 by Fred Anderson, a local hunter.

Mr. Anderson placed a 911 call at 5:57 A.M. to Yoknapatawpha County Emergency Services. Police arrived at the scene at about 6:12. Sheriff's deputies then called for emergency services. Ms. Bledsoe was pronounced dead at 7:14 by a representative of the Yoknapatawpha County Coroner's office.

"It appears that Ms. Bledsoe was brutally attacked without marking her assailant," said Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Elizabeth Jones.

Jones would not disclose further details of the case pending ongoing forensic analysis and investigation but said the department was pursuing several leads.

Ms. Bledsoe is survived by her mother, Mary Bledsoe, and her father, Victor Bledsoe of Yoknapatawpha County.  Neither Mr. Bledsoe nor Mrs. Bledsoe was available for comment.

Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Department said a press conference would be held later in the week.
