Interivew: Jake Polaski, Private Investigator

Monday, January 16, 2006 - 2:11 p.m.

The witness was identified as a private investigator. The interview, conducted by Detectives S. Murphy and T. Armstrong, took place at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff’s Office. The interview was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with the witness’ knowledge and consent.

TA= Detective T. Armstrong
SM= Detective S. Murphy
JP= Jake Polaski

TA: Thanks for coming in, Jake. We appreciate it, and good to see you again.

JP: Thanks, how you been?

TA: Good, and yourself?

SM: Can we just get to the interview? Please state your name and address for the record Mr. Polaski.

JP: Nice to see you too, Murphy. Jake Polaski and my address is 2120 Madison Ave.

SM: Thank you, Mr. Polaski.  That chair sounds fairly strained. Do we need to get a stronger one? Or will that one hold you up?

JP: I think this one will be fine, thanks for the concern Sam.

SM: Detective Murphy will do just fine, Mr. Polaski.

TA: Jake, you've heard of the Amy Bledsoe case right?

JP: Yeah, tough deal for that kid.

SM: We heard you were hanging out at McDonald's asking about her. You stalking young girls these days, Mr. Polaski?

JP: No, I was there on a case, besides I'm still holding out for you Sam. I mean Detective Murphy.

SM: Fat chance of that happening.

TA: Could we get back to the interview here?  Jake, it would help us out tremendously if you could tell us who you were working for.

JP: You know I can't do that, I could get into some trouble for that.

SM: Like that would be a first....

TA: (Clears throat) Jake, we understand, but it's just between us. We won't tell anyone.

JP: Well, I can't say a name right out, but if I MASTER my language, you should be able to find it through some good detective work. Oh, Helen... oops almost swore there. Wouldn't want to do that in front of a lady.

SM: Never stopped you before. I think we're done here aren't we, Detective Armstrong?

TA: Yes, I believe so.  I understand your hesitancy to tell us the name Jake, and we respect your desire to keep your client confidentiality.

JP: No problem at all guys. Guess I better get going, before one of your rookies writes me a ticket for parking in the handicapped zone. I'll see you around, Detective Murphy.

SM: I'm sure I won't miss you.

Interview ends 2:20 p.m.
