TA = Ted Armstrong
SM = Sam Murphy
KP = Kayla Pecan
SM: Thank you for coming in today, Miss Pecan. Please state your name and address for the record.
KP: Okay, my name is Kayla Pecan and I live at 1401 Chickasaw Rd.
SM: Thanks. We just have a few questions for you.
KP: Okay....
SM: First off, can you tell us how you knew Amy Bledsoe?
KP: Sure. We’ve been friends since elementary school. We were in the same 2nd grade class and we became best friends right off the bat.
SM: So you probably knew everything about Amy and her life, right?
KP: Well, pretty much. Lately she was acting kind of strange.
TA: Strange? What do you mean?
KP: I don’t know. It was just like she had some secret or something but she wasn’t telling me about it.
TA: Do you think there was something big that she was keeping from you? A new boyfriend or something?
KP: No, her boyfriend is...or was...Carl. I don’t think she had some other guy on the side. I don’t think Amy would do that.
SM: You think or you know she wouldn’t?
KP: She wouldn’t do that. Amy wasn’t a bad person!
TA: We’ve spoken to Ms. Bledsoe, Amy’s mother, and she tells us that Amy had a job interview on the day of the incident. She also tells us that Amy told her you were picking her up from that interview and she was spending the night at your house.
KP: What? No, I wasn’t picking Amy up.
SM: Was she going to stay at your house that night?
KP: No. I mean, she spent the night a lot, but she wasn’t going to that night. Not that I know of, anyway.
TA: Do you have any idea then, why Amy would lie to her mother about that?
KP: No, I really don’t. Maybe that was part of some secret Amy was keeping from me. I know she was sick of her mom standing over her so she sometimes would lie to her and make her think she was doing something when she wasn’t.
TA: So if Amy stays with you often, Ms. Bledsoe wouldn’t have any reason to question Amy telling her that.
KP: Right. I think she would believe her. Ms. Bledsoe never thought Amy did wrong.
SM: Did Amy do wrong pretty often? She seemed to be a good, honest young woman.
KP: Well she was. I mean...sometimes she would tell her Mom things but that’s because she was SO over-protective. She wouldn’t have done anything really bad, I don’t think.
SM: Did you know anything about the interview Amy was going to?
KP: Not much. I think she said it was an office job with a photographer or something. I didn’t have time to ask her more about it. Wish I had now....
TA: Ms. Pecan, when is the last time you saw Amy?
KP: I saw her... I think the week before she...before you found her.
TA: Did she mention any problems with work, with Carl, anything?
KP: No, not really. It was just the normal stuff. Carl was a good boyfriend, her Mom was annoying, some people at work were kind of annoying...
SM: Did she mention anyone at work, in particular?
KP: No...well, I think there was a girl named... Stephanie. That’s it. I don’t think Amy liked her. She sounded to me like a conniving, manipulative, well... you know.
TA: Okay. Ms. Pecan, can you think of anyone that would want to hurt Amy?
KP: No, I don’t guess so. Most people adored her. Some people probably didn’t consider her a best friend or anything, but I don’t think they would hurt her.
SM: Okay, thank you Ms. Pecan. If you think of anything else that may be relevant to this investigation, please call us right away.
KP: Okay, I will.
