TA= Detective T. Armstrong
SM= Detective S. Murphy
HM= Helen Masters
TA: Thank you for coming down today Miss Masters. For the record would you please state your name and address?
HM: Certainly, Helen Masters, my address is 913 South 13th Street, Oxford. I rent a home from my parents. Makes for cheap rent.
SM: You’ve lived in Oxford for a while then?
HM: Born and raised, Detective, and proud of it.
SM: I understand your father is Bret Masters, is that correct?
HM: Yes Detective, we have resided in Oxford for almost two hundred years.
TA: Where do you work Miss Masters?
HM: I am currently enrolled at the College, in the nursing program.
TA: Are you enjoying that?
HM: Yes, I am, my Father as you know is a cardiologist here in Oxford, and I guess the medical bug kind of bit me too.
SM: Do you know why we asked you to come in today Miss Masters?
HM: I assume it has something to do with the murder of Amy Bledsoe.
SM: Correct, Miss Masters. Did you know Miss Bledsoe?
HM: No, not really. I think I may have seen her around town now and then and someone may have pointed her out to me, but I didn’t really know her.
TA: Didn’t you use to date Carl Yates?
HM: Carl? Well, yes but that was a while ago. I haven’t talked to Carl in months.
TA: Did you know Carl Yates and Miss Bledsoe were dating when she was murdered?
HM: No, I didn’t know that.
SM: Are you sure you didn’t know Miss Bledsoe?
HM: Positive, well, other than as a passing acquaintance I didn’t. Of course, I know lots of people in that manner.
TA: Did you ever talk with Miss Bledsoe? Either in person or on the phone?
HM: I might have said hi in passing, but I don’t know her well enough to talk to her on the phone. Unless one of those nitwits at McDonald’s messed up my order and I had to talk to her on the phone, to get it straightened out.
TA: How did you know she worked at McDonald’s if you didn’t know her that well?
HM: Oh . . . well, it must have been in the press or some of my friends may have mentioned it.
SM: How was your relationship with Carl Yates?
HM: Relationship? Well, like most young people in love it was very exciting and rocky. When you’re young, you don’t have the skills it takes to develop a relationship as well as you should.
TA: What do you mean by rocky?
HM: Oh well, we had our arguments now and then. Carl likes to have things his way, or not at all. I was willing to sacrifice for our love though. Carl in many ways was the best thing that ever happened to me.
SM: What do you mean?
HM: Well, having been in a relationship with Carl and not having it work out, made me realize what it takes to be in a relationship and hold it together when you truly love someone.
SM: Did you try to get back with Mr. Yates once your relationship was done?
HM: Well, we talked about it some, but then he moved on.
TA: With Miss Bledsoe?
HM: I’m not aware of whom he moved on with Detective. Perhaps you should ask him? All I know is he said he was dating someone new. I had no idea who that was.
TA: Are you currently dating someone Miss Masters?
HM: (laughing) Oh, Detective . . . are you flirting with me? I must admit a man with a badge is kind of a turn on, but you are a little old for me don’t you think? (Laughing )
TA: Miss Masters, please answer the question.
HM: Well, if you must know I am not currently dating someone. I am enjoying my freedom and actually I don’t have much time for it right now with school. I guess if you do know some cute, young, Officer you could give him my name and number. (Laughing)
SM: Thank you Miss Masters for coming in. We may be contacting you in the future if we have any more questions.
