Monday, January 16, 2006 - 10:14 am.

The witness was identified as a customer at the Huddle House. The interview, conducted by Detectives S. Murphy and T. Armstrong, took place at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff’s Office. The interview was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with the witness’ knowledge and consent.

TA= Detective T. Armstrong
SM= Detective S. Murphy
GA= Gerry Albright

TA: Thank you for coming in Mr. Albright.

GA: That’s OK. You said it was about that girl’s murder? I didn’t even know her. Why am I here?

SM: Before we get started will you state your name and address for the record, please?

GA: Sure. Gerald Albright but every one calls me Gerry. I live on campus in Kincannon hall.

SM: Thank you Gerry -- may I call you Gerry?

GA: Yeah sure, that’s cool.

SM: Gerry, we need your help. Do you know Carl Yates?

GA: Who?

TA: Carl Yates. A guy you supposedly go to school with.

GA: Oh yeah the name sounds familiar. The classes are pretty big so I don’t really know everybody.

SM: Do you remember where you were the day of Amy Bledsoe’s death?

GA: Hey wait a minute. I didn’t have nothin’ to do with that. I didn’t even know her. I was nowhere near her -- ever!

TA: Calm down, Gerry. We just want to know if you remember seeing Carl Yates any time or any place that day?

GA: That was in what December? Geez that’s almost two months ago. I’m lucky to remember where I was last week!

SM: Well, try. Think back to what you did that Sunday. Maybe went someplace different to eat or maybe you did something special that day.

GA: Can I look at a calendar?

TA: Sure. Here’s one. Does that help?

GA: Let’s see. First Sunday in December. I remember I called home and asked for some extra money until I got home for winter break. I talked to my mom around 5:30 p.m. Then a bunch of my buddies in the dorm decided to go to Huddle House for something to eat. It was in the evening let’s see -- around 6:00-7:00 . Oh yeah I saw that guy you were talking about, Carl whatever. I just kinda waved and said, “ Hey”. He was clear across the room so we didn’t talk. But yeah I saw him there then.

SM: Okay, Gerry. Thanks very much.

GA: Sure. No problem. Can I go now?

Interview ends: 10:20 a.m.
