Johnny McPhail Interview The witness, a fifty-nine-year-old male, was identified as being a close relative to the victim, Melissa Hammond. Detectives Armstrong and Murphy interviewed McPhail at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Office. The interview was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with the witness's knowledge and consent.
