I received the attached search warrant March 1, 2001 and have executed it as follows:

On March 2, 2001 at 8:30 a.m., I searched the person or premises described in the warrant and left a copy of the warrant with Roger A. Hammond, property owner.

  • 000524-46: One (1) pair men's trousers, gray, size 31W, with dark stains

  • 000524-47: One (1) turtleneck shirt, blue, size M, with dark stains

  • 000524-48: One (1) sweatshirt-type jacket, hooded, black, size XL, with dark stains

  • 000524-49: One (1) bundle of rope with wrapper labeled "Clothesline," approx. 66' length remaining

  • 000524-50: One (1) segment of rope, approx. 34" length, tied around cardboard box

  • 000524-51: One (1) plastic bag of rope labeled "Sash Cord," open, approx. 37' rope length remaining

Collected from garage

  • 000524-52: One (1) t-shirt, white, size M, with reddish stains

Collected from vehicle

  • 000524-53: One (1) sweatshirt, hooded, blue, with Ole Miss logo, size XL, with dark stains

Collected from person of Roger A. Hammond

  • 000524-54: One (1) 10mL vial of blood

  • 000524-55: One (1) hair sample

Affidavit(s) having been made before me by Detective Samantha Murphy

who has reason to believe that on the premises known as

4314 Mockingbird Road, Oxford, MS which is a free-standing, one-story home with attached garage, shown by public record as owned by Roger A. Hammond; a 1996 Cadillac DeVille DHS automobile (VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXX) registered to Roger A. Hammond;

in Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi, there is now concealed a person or property, namely

Rope or cord fitting the Coroner's description of the ligature used to cause the death of Melissa Hammond, namely cotton or cotton-blend rope or cord up to 1/2-inch diameter of any length or similar item; a gold chain necklace and "#1 Mom" pendant; clothing stained with red wine;

and as I am satisfied that there is probable cause to believe that the person or property so described is now concealed on the person or premises above described and that grounds for application for issuance of the search warrant exist as stated in the supporting affidavit(s).

YOU ARE HEREBY COMMANDED to search on or before March 10, 2001 (not to exceed 10 days) the person or property specified, serving this warrant and making the search in the daytime (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.). If the person or property be found there seize same, leaving a copy of this warrant and receipt for the person or property taken and prepare a written inventory of the person or property seized and promptly return this warrant to US Judge or Magistrate,

Samples of blood and hair from Roger A. Hammond;

and as I am satisfied that there is probable cause to believe that the person or property so described is now concealed on the person or premises above described and that grounds for application for issuance of the search warrant exist as stated in the supporting affidavit(s).
