EXTERNAL EXAMINATION - SUMMARY:

The body is presented in a black body bag. At the time of examination, the body is clothed in a black medium to heavy weight coat, a white cotton t-shirt, black denim jeans, and black shoes. A pair of wire-rimmed prescription eyeglasses is also present, hooked over the left ear but otherwise displaced.

The body is that of a normally developed, well nourished Caucasian male measuring 69½ inches in length, weighing 180 pounds, and appearing generally consistent with the stated age of thirty-seven years. The body is cold and unembalmed with pronounced rigor and posterior fixed lividity.

The scalp is covered by short, 1/8" long, brown hair. The body hair is male and average. The skull is symmetric and intact. The eyes are open and the irises are blue. The teeth are natural and well maintained. The anterior chest is of normal contour and is intact. The abdomen is protuberant and the pelvis is intact. The external genitalia are male and unremarkable. The back is symmetrical and intact. The upper and lower extremities are symmetric, normally developed and intact. The hands and nails are clean and evidence no injury.

There is a tattoo on the upper right arm reading "Liebster Elena." There are no other residual scars, markings or tattoos.

DESCRIPTION OF INJURIES - SUMMARY:

One sharp force, penetrating wound to the head resulting in craniocerebral injury. The blow was administered to the left side of the head approximately 1 3/4" superior to the left orbit. Depth of penetration is approximately 3 inches into the scalp, skull and brain tissue of the frontal lobe with associated hemorrhages. The size of the entry wound is approximately 3/4-inch in diameter and is tapered or pointed at approximately 30 degrees to a 1/8-inch diameter at the base.

INTERNAL EXAMINATION - SUMMARY:

All organs are within normal limits. No underlying pathological disease conditions or congenital anomalies were observed.

Approximately 100 ml of partially digested semisolid food is found in the stomach with the presence of fragments of light-colored bread or pastry-like material compatible with doughnuts.

Rigor and livor mortis in addition to body temperature indicate a time of death of between approximately 09:00 and 10:00 on 4/30/01.

TOXICOLOGIC STUDIES:

EVIDENCE COLLECTED:

1. Samples of Blood (type A+), Urine, Bile, and Tissue (heart, lung, brain, kidney, liver, spleen).
2. Thirteen autopsy photographs.
3. Two postmortem x-rays.
 
Clothing and eyeglasses transferred to Mississippi State Crime Lab for further analysis.

CAUSE OF DEATH:

I. Sharp force, penetrating head wound.

MANNER OF DEATH:

Homicide.
