Macy Lynn Lamar was born at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi on April 6, 1980 to Caroline Blanchard Lamar and Charles James Lamar. Macy shares the birthdate Sunday, April 6 with her favorite aunt, Jeannie Lynn Lamar Golden who also resides in the Oxford area. This relationship has been a special one for Macy.
 
Macy is in her senior year at Lafayette High School outside of Oxford. An excellent student, Macy excels academically maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.8. Her personal career goal is to complete the requirements for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Mission Specialist Astronaut Candidate training at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas to support the Space Shuttle Program. She plans on attending the University of Houston and pursuing an advanced degree in electrical engineering with a computer engineering specialty. She was one of five students in the state to receive a full scholarship to attend the NASA Advanced Space Academy five day program in Huntsville, Alabama in the tenth grade.
 
An avid athlete, Macy is state champion in women's division cross country track. She has been a swim team member from the age of 6 and represents the Lafayette High School swim team as top medalist in the 500 meter and butterfly competitions. She currently has a part time job working at Square Books in Oxford on the weekends.
 
Macy's father is Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff, Charles James Lamar. Her mother, Caroline Allen Blanchard is a nursing supervisor at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
