Interview: Kane Victory,  bass guitar player in band
Friday, March 13, 2009 - 9:02 AM

Detective Armstrong and Detective Murphy of the Yoknapatawpha Sheriff's Department interviewed the witness, who is the friend of the victim. The interview was conducted at the Yoknapatawpha Sheriff's Department and recorded on a portable tape recorder with the witness’s knowledge and consent.

Detective Ted Armstrong
Detective Samantha Murphy
Kane Victory

Detective Armstrong:  Thank you for coming in. Please take a seat over there. We need your name and address for our records.

Kane Victory:  My name is Kane Victory and I live at 235 Highway 6, west of Oxford.  I still find it hard to believe that Blake is dead. The last time I saw him he was all pumped up for that "Guitar Hero" competition with some guy named Stix.

Detective Armstrong: When did you last see Blake?

Kane Victory: I went to Blake's place around 3 to look at our band schedule and wish him luck on the competition. Blake was his usual self, all cocky, and said it was a shoo-in.

Detective Armstrong:  Why didn't you stay for the competition?

Kane Victory:  Don't get me wrong I like Blake and I owed him for giving me a chance with his band. I guess I was tired of the whole party scene and I was tired of Blake's constant bragging about himself. I thought it was time he grew up and stopped acting like a spoiled brat.

Detective Murphy: Kane, did you like Blake?

Kane Victory: For the most part I did but he could be such a jerk at times. He was jealous of Madison and me. When our band was playing there were girls all over Blake and he didn't seem to care that it bothered Madison. We had some words about how he treated her.

Detective Murphy: Did Blake have a reason to be jealous of you and Madison?

Kane Victory: I admit it; I like Madison a lot and I would have loved to have taken her away from Blake but Madison didn't seemed interested.

Detective Armstrong: Did you like Madison enough to kill Blake to get her?

Kane Victory: Of course not! Like I said before, she wasn't interested!

Detective Armstrong: Where were you when Blake died?

Kane Victory: I was home except for a short time when I went out and got a pizza and then I came home and watched a movie on TV. I fell asleep during the movie. The phone rang around midnight and it was Kent calling to tell me about Blake.

Detective Armstrong: Kane, can you think of anyone that would want to harm Blake?

Kane Victory: I know a couple of people that didn't like Blake that much, but it's crazy to think of anyone of them wanting to kill him.

Detective Armstrong: Who are these people who didn't like Blake?

Kane Victory: It's hard for me to think that someone I know may have killed Blake.  Jamey Allen didn't like Blake. He was jealous of his girlfriend Bree Paxton. I think if Blake had given Bree a second look, she would have ditched Jamey in a heartbeat.
Blake's ex-girlfriend Jennifer Adams still had a thing for Blake and didn't hide the fact that she wanted him back. I'm sure there were others that didn't care for Blake's constant bragging about being the best at "Guitar Hero."
I can't imagine anyone wanting to harm Blake over a game.

Detective Murphy: Kane, we appreciate you coming down today. If you think of anything that might be of help in this case please call us.

Kane Victory: I wish I could have been more help. I know Blake could be a butthead sometimes but he was my friend, and I'm going to miss him. I don't know what's going to happen to our band now. There's no one that can replace Blake.

Detective Murphy: Take care Kane.

Interview ends: 9:37 AM
