The witness, a 21 year-old male, was interviewed by Detectives Armstrong and Murphy at the Yoknapatawpha County Sheriff's Office. The interview was recorded on a portable audio tape recorder with the witness's knowledge and consent.

Detective Armstrong: Thank you for coming in. Have a seat over there.

Jamey Allen:  How can I help?  This whole thing is horrible.

Detective Armstrong: Would you state your name and address for the record?

Jamey Allen: Yes. My name is James Maddox Allen, but everyone calls me Jamey, and I live at 1506 Jackson Avenue, Oxford.

Detective Armstrong: Do you know Bree Anna Paxton?

Jamey Allen: Bree's my girlfriend. She was at the party the night Blake died. She's all messed up over this. We both are.

Detective Armstrong: Were you at the party with Bree?

Jamey Allen: Nah. I had to work that night. But I do go to Blake's parties with Bree when I'm not working.

Detective Armstrong: Where do you work, Jamey?

Jamey Allen: Papa John's. I delivered the food that night.

Detective Armstrong: What time was that?

Jamey Allen: It was between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. I have to keep a record of the time for each stop I make when I deliver the food. I have my record book if you need to see it.

Detective Murphy: We won't need to see your book now, but we might ask for it later.

Jamey Allen: Any time.

Detective Murphy: Who answered the door that night?

Jamey Allen: No one. I don't knock at Blake's. I just open the door and yell, Food's here, and then I take the order on into the kitchen.

Detective Murphy: Did it bother you that Bree was at the party, while you couldn't be?

Jamey Allen: Well, I'd prefer that she wait for me to get off work so we could go together. I think Blake probably hit on her when she went without me. Blake was a big show-off. He used to be a nice guy, but once he got so hot at Guitar Hero, he bragged all the time about how good he was and how no one could beat him. Don't misunderstand; I still call him a friend, but I would have loved to see someone beat him.

Detective Armstrong: Sounds like you were jealous.

Jamey Allen: Nah. I played the game pretty good, too. It's just that anytime his band, "Random Deeds," played anywhere, every girl in the joint screamed and flirted with him. Then when he became the champ at the game, it was ridiculous. He became so conceited; it made me mad.

Detective Armstrong: So, did Bree flirt with Blake, too?

Jamey Allen: I never saw it, and I'd dump her if she did. Who wants to go with a girl that flirts with another guy? Not me!

Detective Armstrong: Did you notice anything different that night?

Jamey Allen: You mean with Bree? No.

Detective Armstrong: That's strange. Bree told us that you got a little miffed with her when you saw she had brought some specially baked goodies for Blake.

Jamey Allen: Oh, I had forgotten all about that. That lasted about two seconds. But she should have told me about that. It bothered me until the next time I talked to Bree and she explained.

Detective Murphy: What did she tell you about that?

Jamey Allen: She said she thought it was a nice thing to do, since Blake was lactose intolerant and he loved bread sticks. She said Blake always invited us to the parties, so she thought it would be a nice gesture in return. I still didn't like it, but I let it go.

Detective Armstrong: What about the rest of the people? Was anything different with any of them or out of the ordinary?

Jamey Allen: Nah. They got their food and drinks, as usual. And paid me, of course....oh, I saw a couple of guys there that I had never seen at Blake's parties. I heard someone call one of them, "Stix," I don't know what the other one's name was.

Detective Armstrong: Did you go into the rec room?

Jamey Allen: No, I didn't. I would've talked with Bree for a minute, but as you know, I thought something was going on with her and Blake. And besides, I couldn't fool around or my boss would have fired me for being late with the rest of my deliveries. People can really get angry if their orders are late.

Detective Armstrong: Do you make a habit of arriving late with the deliveries?

Jamey Allen: One time. That was enough. I need my job.

Detective Murphy: Thanks. Okay, you can go now, but we may need to contact you again.

Jamey Allen: Okay. See ya'.
