Biography: Anna Raymond, neighbor of victim | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Anna Lee Gibson was born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi to Charles and Victoria Gibson. Charles owned and operated an auto body shop. Victoria was raised to believe it was her job to stay home and take care of the family so she never worked outside the home. Anna was born on July 11, 1961 the youngest and only girl of four siblings. Her youngest brother was four when she was born. The boys were excited to have a baby sister and they felt it was their duty to watch over and protect her. Anna had different ideas. For a petite person she was every bit as rough as her brothers. She loved helping her dad in the body shop and she could fix an engine problem as well as Charles. Anna was quite the tomboy during her grade school years. She was well liked and had lots of friends both male and female. Anna dressed more like a boy than a girl. She had rather be playing football with her brothers than playing with dolls. As the years went by and she grew into a young lady, her attitude started changing about being a girl. Much to her parents delight she began to take interest in her appearance and how she dressed. By the time she started high school she had lost most of her tomboy traits but she still enjoyed helping her dad in his shop. High school was a fun time for her. She enjoyed sports, especially basketball. During her senior year she met a boy named George Raymond. Her youngest brother brought him home during a college break. George was from Boston, Massachusetts and was attending his last year of college at the University of Mississippi. He would soon graduate as an electrical engineer. Anna found him interesting and she especially liked the way he spoke. She intrigued him because she was small but tough. After graduation George landed a job in Oxford. He and Anna began to date after she graduated high school. Anna still had the love for mechanics so she opted to work with her dad in his shop and not attend college. Charles loved having his daughter around. Since the boys decided on different careers he knew one day the shop would be hers. Anna and George married two years later on June 5, 1981. They bought a house in Oxford and have been living there all their married life. They have two sons; Josh, the elder, was married with one child. Jarred, younger, attends the University of Mississippi. After Anna's parents died, things weren't the same without her father, and she sold the garage. She's happy just being a homemaker and spoiling her grandchild. |
