Biography: Blake Jenson, victim

Blake Jenson was born to Joy Elaine Jenson on February 4, 1987.

Joy was 17 years old when she became pregnant. She did not want to be tied down to a baby and she wanted an abortion. The young man who was the father, Steven Henson, wanted nothing to do with a baby either. Joy's parents, Luther and Agnes, through many days of pleading convinced Joy to have the baby and then to sign it over to them. Luther promised Joy that he would pay for her college or supply her with enough cash to set herself up anywhere she wanted after the baby was born. The pregnancy was uneventful and Blake entered the world weighing 9 lbs and 6 ounces. The day after he was born he was handed over to his legal guardians, Luther and Agnes Jenson. Joy opted for the cash and as soon as she was released from the hospital she went home and packed her bags and the Jenson's haven't heard from her since.

Blake was a delightful child. He was always smiling; he was a happy boy. Agnes doted over her grandson; she did everything for him. She sang to him constantly and even at a young age she could tell that Blake had a beautiful natural singing voice. He was a messy child, it was always obvious which room Blake had just left and you could tell what he had for lunch by simply looking at his shirt.

Luther spent a lot of time with Blake. Luther loved music. He always had Bing Crosby, Dean Martin or some male vocalist of that era playing in the background as he "piddled" in the garage. He taught Blake how to work with wood, how to maintain a lawn and how to do minor house repairs.

Blake learned to play guitar while in his early teens. Despite his grandparents wanting him to play slower, decent songs he had a love for rock. At the age of 16 he and his best friend, Kent Erdell, decided to start a band. Eventually, Luther gave up his garage because it was far enough away from the main house that he didn’t have to hear the “practices”. For Blake’s seventeenth birthday he was allowed to move into the guest cottage on his grandparents’ property. He was also surprised with a room full of video games. The recreation room soon became a favorite place for kids to hang out after school.

Blake had several girlfriends but was never really serious about any until Madison Spires. She auditioned to play keyboard and sing back up for the band. Kent and Blake accepted her immediately and welcomed her to their band, "Random Deeds."

Blake broke up with his girlfriend, Ginny Carr, and started dating Madison two weeks after he first met her. He said they were meant to be together and that he was going to marry her someday.

Blake went to the School of Engineering at the University of Mississippi. His band played gigs locally in Oxford. His grandparents spent the winters at a second home in Texas. They paid Blake $1,500.00 a month to house sit for them. They paid all utilities on their house and the guesthouse.

Blake was also a "Guitar Hero" fanatic and was undefeated at the game. He had made arrangements to try to be the next Guinness world record holder and was telling everyone that he had conquered Oxford and next he would conquer Danny Johnson and the world.
