Incident No.: 001529-11E-2012
Case Description: Veronica Smith Found Dead

A folded piece of paper was found under a glass on a night table next to the bed where Veronica Smith's body was found. On the paper was a note, apparently written on a computer and printed on an as-yet-unidentified printer.

The paper was submitted to the Crime Lab for analysis. The contents of the note are below.

George, I am so full of guilt over the death of Danielle Lemmons that I just can’t go on anymore, acting like I’m innocent. I’m not. I’m supposed to be a professional at what I do and yet I killed her. It was me who perforated her bowel and it was caused by carelessness on my part. I can’t live with this any longer.

Think it's a clue towards the theory that she didn't actually write it... But her killer just made it look like she committed suicide.

The question arises: If this is suicide and V. presumably printed the note out on her home pc, why fold it in such a way? I mean, if i want someone to know why i did myself in, I'd want to be sure my note was found and read. Why not just lay the note beside her, or on a table with a paper-weight, after printing it out? This note may well have been folded in sich a way for ease of transport, e.g. in a pocket. Also, if I am not mistaken, the liquid did not seep through all layers, before beeing found and photographed. Could this be an indication that the glass hadn't been placed on the paper long enough for the liquid to stain right through? If this is correct, the glass was placed on the note shortly before Haley and George arrived on the scene.

Another thing which strikes me as strange is the wording. Apart from the lack of any kind of consideration for George and Haley - which I find most peculiar - why would she need to explain to her husband what she had done in this fashion?...

Another thing which strikes me as strange is the wording. Apart from the lack of any kind of consideration for George and Haley - which I find most peculiar - why would she need to explain to her husband what she had done in this fashion? Surely she would have told him already that she had done the operation and what had happened. Now if V. had blamed someone else for the mistake, it would make a lot more sense...

That's what I've been thinking the whole time! - The words are just bizarre and to me just sounds like its something, someone ELSE wants to hear Veronica confess to and feel guilty about. So if that's the case, it must be someone she doesn't talk...

That's what I've been thinking the whole time! - The words are just bizarre and to me just sounds like its something, someone ELSE wants to hear Veronica confess to and feel guilty about. So if that's the case, it must be someone she doesn't talk to often, since those people would most likely have heard that kind of talk from her in person.

Has anybody interviewed Danielle Lemmon's husband? A year after her death, Veronica is suddenly found dead. With a short, typed note of nothing but Danielle. When you're depressed and need to get out how you feel you usually write it out, you don't get too much out of typing it up on the computer. And this note was folded in such a way for easy tansporting. Another thing is suffication is a very rare suicide attempt unless you hang yourself, but with a plastic bag? Shot would be too messy for the killer, and another rare but still often used suicide statistic. Drowning will be too risky, and another rare suicide. Taking too many pills is very commonly used for suicide but isn't very likely the killer would succeed is shoving them all down her throat. Are there any signs of struggle? What was the liquid found by her body? Maybe its something leathal used to put her asleep for the murder to be more quick and easy. It needs to be tested and Mr. Lemmons needs to be interviewed.

I have to disagree with both of you on the subject of suffication being rare as suicide. This plastic-bag suicide method is a favored way because it is cheap, easy, fast and even "comfortable" under the right circumstances. That is why exit bags are actually recommended and promoted by euthanasia groups worldwide.

BUT, Veronica's head seems to be only covered with a plastic bag. This is not the recommended exit method which usually involves gas like helium and is ONLY promoted to help terminally ill patients end their suffering! According to various suicide sites, just putting a bag over one's head after taking sleeping pills will usually fail.Apparantly, if not restrained, the person will take off the bag, even if sedated. I assume anybody with a medical background would know of the difficulties and make sure to use the proper method. So I'm thinking this is faked by a non medical person, or the murderer couldn't care less. I cannot wait for the autopsy to see what drugs/medication were used, especially injected.

Its human nature to rip off the bag no matter the intentions. & Veronica had too much to live for for her to kill herself. & look at the full body photo; her body was layed perfectly straight with her legs closed together & arms at her sides. If she commited suicide then she wouldn't be in such a position if she had the strength to keep the bag on long enough to kill herself. it takes approximatly 6 minutes for an adult to sufficate. & look at the letter, It was printed rather than rote. Anyone who has suicidal intentions would more than likely write. & Women use long thought out letters & many details & adjectives, while men are very short, plain, & straight forward. A man deffinatley wrote that. Also considering it was of nothing but Mrs. Lemmons, its had to have been somebody that was very close to her. Many cases in which Doctors are threatened or killed has something to do with a grudge against them after a loved one has died on the table. May 11, 2012; a year after her death.

The fact that the letter does not address the person who is most important to her (daughter) is very suspicious. It doesn't even say take care of my daughter for me.
