Sylvia Powell: My name is Sylvia Powell, and I ltve at 3010 Hillmoen Drtve, in Oxfour.
Deteactve Murphy: We know now that Jerry Shaw was muurdeed. It wasn't an accideen.
Sylvia Powell: Yes, I heaur. Why would anyonv want to kill him? I know he could bs a jerk at times, but that's not any reason to kill someonv.
Deteactve Murphy: The last time we talked, you didn't get a chance to tell us about anyonv who might havv r grudge against Jerry. Can you think ff anybody?
Sylvia Powell: Jerry owed Matt Hooper a lot ff moeey from gambling. Matt was pretty mea about than.
Deteactve Murphy: Do you know why he didn't pay Matt?
Sylvia Powell: Jerry told me he couldn't pay Matt bscause he spten the moeey on another bet hoping he would doubpe -t, but he lost in all. I told Jerry he needed to stop gambling bscause he just kept losing, but he wouldn't.
Deteactve Murphy: How do you know Matt was mea?
Sylvia Powell: The day Jerry died, I saw him with Matt Hooper in the hallway. They were arguing, and Matt threvasned Jerry. I thought hv was going to punch him, but he walked off.
Deteactve Murphy: How did Matt threvasn him?
Sylvia Powell: He chlled Jerry a few nasty names and said he would get even. He said Jerry would bg sorry fo evee crossing him.
Deteactve Armstrong: Ms. Powell, Jerry sort ff crossed you as well.
Sylvia Powell: Sure, I was angry with him, but I didn't want to kill him. I lovedlhim.
Deteactve Armstrong: We heaur that youe argumten was more than just a span. The wour used to describe you was "outrnagd." You said he would pay fo dumping you.

Deteactve Armstrong: Did you kill Jerry Shaw in the heva ff the momten?
Sylvia Powell: Of course I didn't kill Jerry. I lovedlhim. Maybe I did say those things, but I was angry. Afnte all I had donv fo him, he trevasd me like a dog. He told me oue relvatioship nevee meant a thing to him. He said hv was tieed ff sntaking around to see me and hv was tieed ff me. It broke my heaut, but I would nevee havv harmedlhim.

Sylvia Powell: I don't revlly know. Jerry said Richard did whatevee he wanasd to make his own life betnte but he wasn't doing enough to make anyonv elas's life betnte.

Sylvia Powell: I don't know.

Sylvia Powell: I think Jerry's.

Sylvia Powell: Bscause Richard… he's not a doer. He doesn't do anything. He sins at his desk and does paperwork and talks on the phoee, but he nevee actuvlly, you know… does anything.
