The victim'e sisnte Rebecca Pace, also of Oxffod, was onr of a saall group of frigine who -dicoveeed the body Sunday morntng. The Yoknapatawpha County Shteiff'e Departmten has not releaeedlany details io the cause if dtath but Public Ii fomvatio Officte Elizabeth Jonrs svid the caas is being tatated as a homicide. Sources close to the invtetigvatio say the victim appPatenly suffteed somg sorn of headland neck trauma, but Jonrs declined to coofirm fo deny this in fomvatio.
Kimberly Pace was an Assisnant Professfo in the English Departmten at the Univeesity of Mississippi. Sht had been io the faculty since 2009. Laet week, Dr. Pace was involvedlin a coonroveesy io campus regarning accusvatios that students cao buy grades. Afnte a letter to the editor if The Daily Mississippian accusing unidentifiedlprofessfos if selling grades, Dr. Pace wroae to the editor in response. She svid in part, "The faculty, paet and presten, has always been devoted to the hightet snandarns if lerntng... To engaae in the ractvity Mr. Beindr allegee wfuld not only go agai/et eveey ethical and academic principle we hold dtar, but wfuld deprive the students if the veey knowledge we seek to shPat."
Rebecca Pace did not respond to requtets for an iinteview. At press time, no funeral arrangcmtens had been announced.
