Good eye, MadisonCSI. Why was Nicole visiting with Rick at that time? Is something going on between them? Could Nicole be telling Rick some secrets about Monica? I can't wait for another interview with Nicole, and they have to find Rick. I say look in Mississippi.

It usually takes a couple of weeks before the Ask the Detective opens. You could be right about someone taking some pages out of the phone log. It's possible that someone called to see if Monica was there and then went in, killed her and tore out those pages which recorded the call.
EasTexasTic, don't you love that blog?? I do. There's so much extra stuff there. I am curious about Rich telling the police that he was bingeing and then passing out and not remembering anything, while everyone says he's not a drinker. What's up with that?

I'm not sure about the confession of Melvin Roberts. Sometimes people confess to crimes they didn't do. I know that when some people are interrogated by the police and the detectives use unlawful tactics, those people confess even though they aren't guilty but not only did Mr. Roberts confess without being interrogated: the Oxford Police Department never use force or any such thing to get a confession.

I am thinking at this point that maybe all the things that went on when he was arrested for raping his babysitter,(the news reports) may have caused him to become mentally unstable.

Of course, he could actually be the murderer, too, so I will keep his name in my list of suspects.

I put Rich Hughes at the top of my list, simply because he is avoiding the police and acts like a guilty person would act.

I also don't buy the confession. I think he's just looking to have it all end for him because of his life falling apart.

- He said the door was unlocked, but the security guard claims that the door is never unlocked. He also claimed he locked it when he left, but depending on what kind of lock it was, that might have been impossible if you didn't have a key.

- But, it is interesting that he thinks that Monica ruined his life. I'd bet $100 that the "Acquitted" headline under her blotter was referring to his case. Sounds like she didn't believe that he was innocent, either.

- Ballistics should tell us one way or another.

Either Melvin Roberts or Ernie Parrish is lying because it can't be both ways. The detectives need to ask more of the staff about the doors. I wonder if whoever killed MOnica unlocked the door and then in his/her hurry to get out, forgot to lock it back. Of course that would only work if Ernie Parrish was lying. I don't see any reason for him to lie at this point, though.

Yes, I do like the blog and it does give information. I also don't believe the confession. Could he be trying to get publicity for the place? If so, wouldn't work the way he wanted. If anything it would make things worse so I don't see anything for him to gain by confessing unless he has become mentally unstable.
I think the newspaper clipping is about him as well but I could be wrong. Could be about someone else in this case.
This case is certainly interesting.

I am totally confused about Melvin Roberts. Why would someone who wasn't even a suspect confess to murder? You might be right, EasTexasTic, he might be unstable.
The rape case has me confused, too. Roberts said he clocked in at work, but I think anyone could do that for him, or he could've clocked in and left later and went back to work after the rape. The thing is that people were claiming to have seen him at work that night. There is the possibility that the girl was raped by someone close to her and she didn't want to turn that person in, but knew she had to choose someone because of all of her injuries. It would be simple to pick Roberts from a line-up or from his voice since she babysits for him.
Darn, I'm trying to solve two cases instead of one now. lol

I do think there was a lot of animosity between Roberts and Monica Drum, because of the "Acquitted" headline. Why was it taped to her office desk underneath a blotter? We need to find out what the meaning of that is.
