Thu Feb 27 01:54:22 1997

Why would William Giblini take theatre make-up with him on vacation? It seems very strange thing to take on vacation - unless he had some reason to use it.

Is it known if Valerie had seen any pictures of William without theatre make-up on? The picture found on her refridgerator showed him in his stage make-up.

Is it possible that William used make-up to make himself look similar to Greg? Both brothers were similar weights and comparable heights.

Thanks!

Re: Liz White
1) Where was her apartment in proximity to Val's apartment?
2) What time did she see Val @ Proud Larry's with the red-headed man?
3) Had she seen this man before?
4) What time did she hear Val yelling the night of the murder?
5) How come there isn't more information on Liz? Since she saw Val the night of the murder and heard her yelling, I would image she would be some on of interest to interview.

Thanks for your time!

Response: The building is a 4-plex. Two up and two down. Liz White was on the same floor. They share a landing.
At closing time.
No.
At around 1AM.
Liz White declined to make her interview public.

Sat Feb 22 22:41:21 1997

Detective Armstrong

Has anyone looked into the posiblity of the wounds not being of an sexual nature. The stab marks and tearing around what a man might feel is the womb area... If I recall right she was found not to be pregnant. Could she have told him she was?....The stabs in that area might have been an atempt to destroy something that someone thought was there. Sometimes mind games with each other go to far.

LK

Response: You raise interesting points.

Sat Feb 22 13:53:35 1997

Did you find any tools in the apartment?Screwdivers.
Were the clothes that Valarie wore to the bar missing?
My guess is yes.

Response: 1-No one can know why her socks were on.
2-Sexual assault leaves many indicators, even after death.
3-No tools that would cause the wounds.
4-Vilson had several black items in her closet.
5-Correct, only one pillow. That is odd.

Wed Feb 19 21:09:43 1997

Did Valerie own an umbrella?

Response: Yes. Black.

Tue Feb 18 02:36:37 1997

In the living room of Valerie's apartment there were books about clowning and stage make-up. It has been answered in a previous response that the books on clowning belonged to Valerie. Did the stage make-up books also belong to her? What type of stage make-up were they about?

Response: Al, the books were hers. The stage makeup book was by Richard Corson. It is viewed as a must-have for actors. It is for stage makeup.

"Giblini shared an interest in drugs with the victim. He was not at Proud Larry's that night."

Is this correct? Greg Giblini WAS NOT at Proud Larry's with Valerie? If he wasn't, who was?

DETECTIVE ARMSTRONG, DID SHE HAVE ANYBODY THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM HER DEATH

Response: No

Thu Feb 13 02:03:19 1997

Wow. Helluva case.
I haven't read all the links, but I wonder about the non-chalant
dismissal of "Briana."
Briana seems to be close to Val in so many levels: theatre,
roommate, confidante.
The movement and posing of the body seems almost
theatric. And, from what I can tell, Briana is the only one
who can connect Greg, Will, Purity, Val's diary, &tc.
(I don't recall, was Briana present at the Ouija board session?)
The bathing reflects (sort of) a Lady Macbeth scene ("Out!
Out, damed spot!") and, by shooting Val before the bathing
and mutilation, it would be unnecessary to overpower Val, i.e.,
a woman could do it.
Professional rivalry between two determined actresses? Access
to Greg's and Will's whereabouts (through snooping through
Val's mail/computer/any phone calls that came to the
apartment that weren't recorded on the answering machine.
Sorry this is rambling. Fascinating case, worthy of a Grisham
novel. And that's another thing . . . .

Wed Feb 12 17:51:44 1997

1. victim washed after shooting. Was she then dressed
in same clothes as death? Where is bathroom photos
and evidence?
2. No semen evidence? How is Giblini connected to condom
in apt.. Picture worth nothing many thousands made and sold.
3. Time line-coroner puts death at 6am from shot to head.
PD there at 10am four hours difference? Rigor? Post Mort
lividity?
4. Fingerprints? Fiber?
5. Deceased was dressed and stood up against refrigerator
while dead and washed and still splattered blood ?

Response: 1-She is wearing pajamas in death, a black outfit that night.
2-Giblini was traced to the condom via the serial number, which led to the store, and its surveillance video.
3-Not certain what you ask.
4-No unusual prints. William Giblini's DNA was found on the bloody cat.
5-Probably done with her on the floor

Wed Feb 12 17:31:10 1997

Has the local police department contacted the FBI's behavioral science unit. and have they issued a profile of the killer in each instance.

Response: Here is an excerpt:
"A male between 18 and 35 years old. Probably educated. Either works with computers or has them as a hobby. Probably known as a loner. Grew up around dominating women. Driven by fantasies. Has always fantasized about killing in this manner. Though he is a loner, he appears social and likable to others. He has a dark side to his personality. Possibly known as a compulsive liar. Feels no empathy for others and feels no remorse...Will probably kill again, as he acts on impulse."

Wed Feb 12 14:45:11 1997

What time did you get a call?
What time did you find her?

Response: Call came at 10:30AM, she was found 10 minutes later.

Tue Feb 11 07:35:32 1997

I asked this before, but got no response: Do police believe a computer was stolen out of Greg's apartment in California?

Was it not mentioned somewhere that William Giblini had a red beard?

Response: Yes.

Sun Feb 9 12:19:40 1997

I understand that she was shot and an hour later taken to the kitchen and stabbed. would that much blood still be flowing? It is my understanding that the flow stops at a certain point. Maybe there is a reason she was right in front of frig?

Response: The body was definitely posed. What significance could the refrigerator have?

Sun Feb 9 02:11:14 1997

Sat Feb 8 21:46:03 1997

OK, now I haven't read everything on the case, but so far, I
think it was likely that the killer petted the cat to calm it
down. 1, it was causing alot of noise, probably, and the
killer WAS A FRIEND OF VALERIE. The cat obviously would have
been even more aggressive if a stranger tried to pet a
complete stranger's cat. The killer must have had motive,
and from the blood evidence I believe it was male and that
Valerie was denying him sex. Mail your comments.

Sat Feb 8 20:31:20 1997

If Valerie was using birth control pills why did Greg Giblini buy the condoms?

Response: Extra precaution, or perhaps he didn't know the victim had birth control pills.

Sat Feb 8 12:22:23 1997

Is it possible that Purity had been in a violent diccusion over petty differences they shared? Who all attended the party? Ms. Gold's gun was given to Valerie. What it that very gun that was shot and killed Greg and Valerie? If Valerie knew her life was in danger, why did she need a gun?
Who were the condoms purchased by.

Response: 1-No indication Purity was involved in an argument with the victim.
2-Gold's gun did not kill Valerie Vilson.
3-Greg Giblini purchased the condoms.

Sat Feb 8 12:12:40 1997

What does Greg know about Valerie's drug usage? Was he at the bar with her? What bar did they go to?

Response: Giblini shared an interest in drugs with the victim. He was not at Proud Larry's that night.

Sat Feb 8 10:19:25 1997

I am a Masters criminal justice student and recently observed your file investigation on a murdered lady in her kitchen. There was a reference to a her cat being quite aggressive when encountered; i.e. she had blood on her mouth. Do you have any inout into whether if there was more than one blood type found on the cat?

Response: The blood came from William Giblini. Blood samples here.

Fri Feb 7 20:51:53 1997

Was there forced entry to the house

Response: No

Fri Feb 7 07:47:05 1997

Where is Valerie's cat???

Response: Her owners are in Oxford. Here is a recent photo of the cat.

Fri Feb 7 06:57:26 1997

1)The diary entries seem to contradict William or Greg being involved in the murder of Valerie, she was living in fear as a result of Purity's abortion. The mutilation of her body after death indicates rage towards her reproductive
ability. Jake the boyfriend was seen at a party on the night of the murder but where was he at 4:00 am?

Fri Feb 7 05:51:46 1997

1) Who was sending Valerie Vilson threats in the mail?

2) Why is the Greg Giblini murder case closed if his murder is unsolved?

The 911 caller seems to know that the argument preceding his
murder was not uncommon, she says she called police the week
before about them fighting.

Fri Feb 7 03:04:18 1997

I think valeries sister had something to do with all of th muders

Thu Feb 6 17:35:19 1997

Why would William Giblini take theatre make-up with him on vacation? It seems very strange thing to take on vacation - unless he had some reason to use it.

Is it known if Valerie had seen any pictures of William without theatre make-up on? The picture found on her refridgerator showed him in his stage make-up.

Is it possible that William used make-up to make himself look similar to Greg? Both brothers were similar weights and comparable heights. If William did kill Valerie disguised as Greg, it would be possible that if Valerie was sound asleep when he entered her apartment and if she awoke she might have assumed it was Greg.

Thu Feb 6 10:14:16 1997

Who is the murder?

Thu Feb 6 07:43:23 1997

The Greg Gilbin "Incident Report" stated that the desk drawers had been dumped on to the floor. Obviously somebody was looking for something. Also, it says there were computer cables, but no computer. Do the police think someone stole the computer.

If so, it appears to me at least, that all three murders probably have something to do with computers and probably with Rosebud. Are investigators studying this possibility and are they looking more closely into Tom and/or Jennifer Gilbin?

Wed Feb 5 16:19:22 1997

I think Val Vilson's biological parents and sister should be contacted again. The bathing ritual has deep religious significance and didn't the bio say that her 'Dad' was in the medical field? Which supports the theory of the medical instrument used as the stabbing weapon. He would have brought it with him and taken it back home. Don't know yet if all three (mom, dad, and sis) are involved but there would have been motive for killing the boyfriend Greg. The other brother's death could have been mistaken identity since his picture was on the fridge. Please respond as to the likelihood of any of these theories.

Tue Feb 4 22:34:51 1997

I havent been online for a while, but whatever happened to the evidence of the airplane ticket. who did it belong to, etc. please respond.

Tue Feb 4 13:33:08 1997

How good is Purity Knight's alibi? I think she killed Valerie. Out of revenge, she regretted getting the abortion. And I think that's why she changed her name, to disassociate herself from that part of her life. And I think maybe she had help.
I think Will had been there and left, traces of his blood were innocent, leftover from an accident that happened after he had sex with Valerie. Greg assumed that Will killed her and so he kills Will. But Purity killed Greg because he loved Valerie. Am I close?

Tue Feb 4 05:28:37 1997

keep up the good work

Mon Feb 3 19:13:49 1997

Where was she working,?

Mon Feb 3 11:38:15 1997

(Sorry about the misinformation-- Theseus cut off the ---- of the local king, NOT the god Dionysios, on Naxos. Seems the good folks of Naxos had a new king every year. No telling what they did with the old one. When the new king and Ariadne were indiscreet, he paid royally.)

Okay, so now we have good ole boy Frank Knight saying "we don't believe in killing." Elliptical words-- Valerie arranged to have their grandchild killed. So what do you do with a killer, biblically speaking? Eye for an eye, and all that?

We can envision the following scenario: someone (Will? Greg? both?) shoots Valerie and, being completely wacko, or a student of wacko behavior, bathes the body and arranges it on the kitchen floor. Daddy Dearest and/or Boyfriend Jake arrive(s) on the scene after the killers have left and finds somebody has already dispatched his elder daughter, so he contents himself with mutilating the body and throwing blood all over the refrigerator.

Some folks REALLY hated poor little Val. She must have been a real pain in the tuchis. Probably one of those neurasthenic actress types who was boringly into all the latest liberal stuff but was really too self-involved to think her way out of a paper bag, as witness the way she let Greg treat her. And the fact that she was going to "save" Purity by killing the baby Purity was going to have. The only one of this cast of characters who seemed really to like her was Pig-the-Cat, and that's because she fed him.

Of course, real rape is a justification for terminating a pregnancy in almost everybody's book. However, was Purity really raped? Or did she imagine she had been, in retrospect? Or did she know she had not been, but wanted out of a pregnancy that she perhaps did not anticipate? We have only her word for it. She's a rebel, and might have indulged in one-time sex with boyfriend Jake just for the hell of it, in a spate of adolescent fury and hatred at everything her parents were preaching at her. Or, she and Jake might have been lovers of long standing. How do we know she wasn't? The same rebellion, presumably, sent her hot-footing it to a kibbutz. (Which one? What did she do there? Feed chickens? Plant oranges? Dance the hora? I'm curious. Why Israel?) She's now moved from biblical allusions in her faxes to Greco-Roman mythology in her name change. How come? Does she like the absence of personal moral responsibility in Hellenism better than the strictures of the Judaic code, which turned out to be a lot like her parents' evangelical Christianity? Did she stop off in Piraeus on her way back to the US and become enamored of Greece and all its pagan past? She's now "free" and "lives in the sunshine." A thoroughly pagan concept, especially if she's now into things Greco-Roman. Her statement that she received "packages from lovely boys and girls/and threw them all away" is poetry-- whose? That is a VERY leading quote of hers. Reminds me a little of Shakespeare: "Golden lads and lasses must/like chimney sweeps, all turn to dust."

Our little A.P.Knight is turning out to be a rather complex person. Hats off (again) to her author.

Is Ariadne Purity Knight really the lost twin sister of actress Holly Hunter, or is it just that all Southern girls look alike?

Seriously, Purity's name Ariadne is significant. She was the granddaughter of Zeus and the daughter of Pasiphae, who had a thing about bulls, but probably because the family was from Crete, where bulls were a very big deal. It was Ariadne who gave Theseus the means to guide himself out of the labyrinth (in which he killed the Minotaur who was incidentalaly Ariadne's half-brother) using a ball of twine or thread to retrace his steps. Ariadne and Theseus then fled from Crete to Naxos. No one knows what happened to her after that; there are several conflicting myths about her fate. The most popular is that she became besotted (sorry) with Dionysius, the god of wine and orgiastic celebration. Theseus found her with him in an extremely compromising position on the morning after one of these riots, and abandoned her after cutting off the-- ahem-- gentleman parts of the offending deity. Ariadne-- foolish in love, but not stupid-- is the conclusion we can draw from this little story.

There is an Ariadne product that is a new Web browser, too. Following threads, and all that.

Mon Feb 3 00:49:21 1997

Sorry, in my second entry I meant to say "If he was there but didnt kill her why WOULDN'T her report it to the authorities if he cared about her so much. Sorry about the typo. I got so wrapped up in helping solve this case that I almost forgot how tragic this all is. It is so sad to see 3 lives snuffed out, especially at such a young age.My best goes out to the people directly involved. God Bless.

Mon Feb 3 00:43:51 1997

This is my third entry tonight. It said that Val had never met Will, because he was never mentioned in the diary except the times when they conversed as "friends". Is it possible that Will told her never to write in her diary, their real relationship that was going on, just in case somebody would stumble upon it(like Greg?). Then, when he got there and killed her, he destroyed all of this evidence linking him to her, just in case she indeed HAD written about their relationship???

Mon Feb 3 00:08:20 1997

I forgot to add that the blood from Will on the cats mouth, obviously puts Will there. And if he was there, but didn't kill her, why would he report this if he cared about her so much????

Mon Feb 3 00:05:26 1997

I have been going over the files for about 5 hours tonight. Is it possible that Val and Will had something going on between them, and Will was supposed to meet her that night, but all of a sudden, Greg makes another one of his unexpected visits. Val knows she cant reveal her relationship with Will and agrees to spend the night with Greg, but not at home(Will may walk in). They go to a bar and return home. Greg and Val go back home, when Will barges in, they argue, and Greg storms out. Val tels Will that it had to end, and he shoots her.(Out of passion and jealousy) He knows about her problems with the knights, so he cleans her up, and stabs her in the belly, making it look as though the Knights did it. Greg finds out about the murder and goes to Miami to kill Will. Gregs murder baffles me a bit, but I cant help but think that the man he was with when he was pulled over may have something to do with it. Of course he is conveniently out of the country now. I dont think Charity did anything, her upbringing apparently sucked and it doesn't surprise me that she took off for a while, this would be a very hard thing to go through and Im sure the last thing she needed was to be harassed by more people than she already has. You guys are doing great, I hope this gets solved soon, and I really hoped I have helped out.
